Is the UK more racist than other countries?

With the economy troubles the usual threads about immigrants workers and refugees taking our jobs/bleeding the system dry etc have come up again; but I can't help thinking the UK seems incredibly racist - it doesn't even stop at so called "foreigners". There seems to be an ingrained bad feeling between not only the Scots/Welsh/English but even northerners and southerners!! I don't know if this happens abroad - does northern France slag off southern France?
When you see those "Daily Mail type" stories about "Immigrant turns up at airport with 6 kids and gets house/££££ benefits/free kidneys blah blah blah" well of course it grates but I would be horrified if I saw families left to starve in the gutter because they were "foreign". Why does our media always pick on the tiny percent who do leech when there are far more who don't? And why do we buy their papers and believe it all?
There was a story in the Mail (admittedly not about money but just an example of attitude) about an illegal immigrant possibly infecting 400+ women with HIV - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1085446/HIV-illegal-immigrant-infected-400-women.html
Yes it's a awful story but why is it necessary to mention his nationality? It isn't really relevant other than to inflame readers into thinking "If he hadn't been let in it wouldn't of happened", but the real issue is anyone with an STD should use condoms, as should anyone sleeping with a stranger. Do other countries newspapers run stories of this type?
Sorry for the rant but with all the current woes I think we need to focus on real issues instead of blaming the "outsiders"!

I think you are somewhat confused dandy-candy , in order for a person to be racist, the person at the other end of the derogatory comment would need to be of another race, I dont think a white indigenous northerner is a different race from a white indigenous southerner.
Its like people who say "you are racist against Muslims" , its impossible as Muslim is a religion, not a race, ask Cat Stevens.0 -
No it's not.
Many immigrants are very surprised at how welcoming the UK is and how we bend over backwards to accommodate their cultures.
There are still countries where you can't go in a shopping centre at certain times if your skin is the wrong colour. That is racism.0 -

No, IME. Less so if anything.
There'll be a whole load of bile coming this way now. Enjoy it.

Which shopping centre and at which hours? I think you're lying.
Edited at Castleman's request. Am happy to do so. Possibly makes my line pointless/inaccurate. Oh well, wouldn't be the first time.
My comment made sense in the original context.0 -

It is hardly suprising that Nu-Labours Multicult Utopia & Immigration free for all was going to be exposed for the Failed Social experiment it is......0 -
Gah! Mustn't get sucked in. These BNP p1rcks get off on this stuff. Just ignore the racists, don't engage them.
I had a very nice drive up to Katoomba this afternoon. The Blue Mountains are absolutely beautiful and I spent my time (as an immigrant) enjoying my workless time thoroughly.0 -

No...........I think the U.K. is far less racist than many other countries, especially so compared to our 'mates' in Europe and many in Asia.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
No we aren't. I've lived in a,lot of places, and experienced rascism myself. I think rascism is evident to a degree everywhere I've been. I'm very proud of britain's mulitculturalism and the way we strive against racism. Sometimes we get it wrong, in either direction, but we strive hard.
This is something we can all be genuinely proud of in Britain, and that doesn't mean I'm pretending its perfect; but I think we do a pretty darn good job and have a brilliant foundation to improve further on.0 -

What colour are they ??'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
Definately no! Compare us to the French, Spanish, Italians and we, as a country, are extremely tolerant towards ethnic and religious variants other than the norm ie RC/COE indiginous race etc.30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.0
