And did you see the piece on GMTV the other day? If you are going to the med area for your hols and are unfortunate enough to be stung by a jellyfish, then rub the sting with vinegar :D The sting is alkaline and needs acid to neutralise it - locals say rub tomatoes on the sting, but vinegar sounds good to me :D:D

Does this mean I have to get my vinegar back out of the cleaning cupboard?

Nope ..... it means you need a bottle in the cleaning cupboard and a bottle in the cookery cupboard (and a bottle in reserve :D)

I don't know anybody who brings a supply of vinegar to the beach (well there may be a few old stylers who haven't yet admitted to it yet) but the cheapest "medicine" for a jellyfish sting is to do a jimmy riddle on it. V.elegant, but if it works, who are we to argue!? I wonder who exactly made this discovery, and how...

Oh and full sugar cola poured on the sting is said to be just as effective - just not as moneysaving as pee. Can't go wasting good vinegar now, can we?!

Maybe someone was so shocked by the pain, they did it anyway  then realised it didn't hurt anymore....and had to persuade people they tried it as an experiment :rotfl:

But those of us wot paid attention in the chemistry class in skool (us swots!) know that the active component of wee is ureaic acid, or somefink like that, so it should work. Quite why it doesn't dissolve the limescale in my hard water loo but merely stains it yellow I really don't know. :)

But I don't care any more 'cos I've got vinegar!!!! :)

You can make vinegar paint too! I cant remember the recipe right off top of my head, but it can be used to make paint effects, think it may be stabilised with washing up liquid.

I have been decorating today. Used my favourite filler for fine cracks. Bicarb soda, mixed with pva glue. It gives a very good finish. Anyone else tried this?
