this is my vinegar tip and I'm really proud of it (so don't knock it!!!) ;D
White vinegar still does smell a bit too strong for my liking but I use it for cleaning in my kitchen (wiping down the sides etc) - anyway a friend told me to add essential oils to take away the smell - I've tried lots of different versions with varying degrees of success - grapefruit is quite nice, but you still really get the underlying smell of vinegar.... anyway, my latest is the best yet - I now add vanilla essential oil (quite a few drops) to a cup full of vinegar and just put it in an old squirty bottle - this really smells good - way better than store bought rubbish and cheaper too!4oz rice crispies, 4oz butter, 4 mars bars.Melt, mix, cool, eat. Yummy!1 -
Can't imagine where I got the apple idea from then??? ;D0

Hi all,
Done so much with vinegar it truly is wondrous, but I am now at a quandary, when Baking Soda is mentioned is that Baking Powder or Bicarbonate of Soda. I am a mere male mortal and would like a definitive answer from the species that should be obeyed or so they like to think.
Seriously can you please help me out of this dilemma? What is this life if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare.0 -
i usually mean bicarb. don't know about others.0

Household vinegar is also an excellent antidote to a jellyfish sting........apparently.Herman - MP for all!0

I have followed up the tip about white vinegar as a softener for clothes and my son says he can smell it in his clothes (I only added a small cup in the softener part of the machine!).
Can anyone else smell the vinegar after the clothes are washed?

no, but i had a problem a few weeks ago with clothes smelling very stongly of fabric softner. ran the washeron empty, and cleaned all the drawer bit, hasn't happened again. HTH.0

Cathy, I tried to sniff the offending clothes and could really not smell anything! Also, my son is one for 'progress' (read: commercial stuff) so all these old fashioned things make him feel funny (he accused me to be a hippy - guilty as charged! ;D)
Done the vinegar thing today again with the towels load and they are all nice and fluffy (and don't smell of vinegar at all!).
Mind you, I used less this time!
