Been lurking and enjoying your diary for a long time. Very sorry to hear of OH's news about company  must be very hard for him and you to come to terms with this.

However you have been doing brilliantly with e bay and maybe when the dust has settled you and OH will be able to plan and move forward.

Good luck and sure you will be able to move forward, :T

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Hi MrsMcR - Trying to think of some ideas.

Is there any potential cash in the Cyprus property. Rental over summer perhaps?
Is there any money coming from the dissolution of the partnership that you just need to hold on for?
Is there any equipment, vehicles, property leases that can be disposed of if the business is folding?
Can you speak to HMRC about any tax paid on account or advance corporation tax payments. If the business has overpaid based on projected earnings then you may be able to cease payments meantime.
School fees - not sure if/how you may any but can they be put on hold or reduced (lots of schools are having to knock up to 25% because of parents being hit hard in recession).
Can you ask for a payment holiday from either mortgage?

Let us know how we can help.

thanks all esp maggie, karen kissjen plus my regular girlies!

    well what to do?
karen i will go through ur list:
cyprus - in rental scheme which pays the mortgage, wont sell it as takes too long and we are not paying 'out' as such till next january.
the company is going to be going through insolvency practisioners which means i think they keep the assets. but for short term money is tight - this is approx 2 weeks away till this can be a bit clearer. the directors are split about decisions on this. i dont know all the ins' and outs'
there is nothign that can be disposed of as such unfortunately.
there is no real over payments plus we have our own personal tax to pay in july :-( more misery
school fees - i have to cover them with my ebay money - they are not too bad but sometimes could make better use of the money elsewhere
payment holiday .. would help a little but we asked for one last november and again this february and were told we did not qualify something to do with the percentage of our mortgage against some index linked valuation.

only one thing to do ... juggle, head down, smile, least we have a holiday all booked paid for in the summer - we are healthy - but we dont sleep much anymore - we will survive cos we have survived worse in the last year or so. at the end of the day we have no choice - we are not giving in to this and will over come!

thanks so much everyone - i am lucky to have you here XXXXX
have a good day - im working so earning some pennies!

    xx

    Morning mrscmr -

Think you were answering kissjenn's questions, not me - must be the tiredness i'm sure ;)

Re your rental property - do you incure more costs in January?? Little confused but assume it's rented out to people through a company rather than you having to do the work etc

Hope you are looking after yourself during this down time, eating plenty etc. I know sleeping is probably the hardest part as I am sure you have all sorts going through your mind.

Hopefully things will become clearer with OH's company etc soon enough, I hope he is doing ok too as must be hard on him as it is all of you at the mo.

    Take care,

    K xx

oh gosh.. yes karen you are right [im so used to u doing ur lists!!! automatically thought it was u!! ha ha]
kissjenn sorry - yes i replied to your list of points.

@karen - the mortgage is annually taken in january - the income we get covers the mortgage - so thats ok.
