Another thread about this a while back.

Post 22 explains the background to it.
Here is a FAQ from the Optical council (not sure if this has been mentioned already)

Have to agree with the comment about using tact though.Last time I was getting a test for glasses, they wheeled out the Salesman who told me I wasn't legal to drive..hmm..not quite true, and there was a tiny change in my prescription and my perscription is quite weak..so I told him I was in a hurry and didn't have time to stop..0 -
Your optician is required to provide you with a copy of your prescription and nothing else. I use daily contact lenses and i have my prescription done and order off the internet.0

If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0

When will we learn that like buses, if you don't use your local businesses and allow them to make enough to survive, you lose them. Then where are you?
Unlikely contact lense wearers wear glasses as well.
I started buying my contact lenses on line because a chain of opticians, who sell nice glass frames and where I actually got my glasses from, couldn't enter my bank account details in their system for direct debit purposes because I have a current account with a building society.
I actually complained to their head office as I expected them to be able to manually put it in the system but nothing happened so I started buying online.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

To be honest, i have been looking at getting contacts online, and i can only find the brand i have from specsavers, yes i can get them at an amazing £10 less per 3 months, so imho i feel that paying an extra £3.33 per month is worth it, as i get my solutions, case's and i get free aftercare as well.
Im not saying that this is better, but as i have to have toric contacts and i have a a higher power i would rather feel safer from an optican, and also i think that many people do not factor in cleaning solutions when buying contact lenses!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year
