This is a great idea and if it helps people to stop drinking or drink less then they are saving money and therefore in the Spirit of MSE.Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself.I walk with the world & the world walks with me!I don't make bad choices!!! Other people just fail to see my GENIUS !!!!0

Huge congratulations beer on posting this, you've already made the first step by admitting you have a problem and i admire and commend you for that :T
I don't see why there shouldn't be a thread as you suggest and hopefully this will be looked into for you and a thread started asap. I think it's a fantastic idea that members will have somewhere to gain help, support and advice from each other and since you'll all be amongst friends it would hopefully make it easier for everyone to partake without feeling embarrassed about it.
I feel it may also be of help to those that arn't able to admit they have a drink problem, reading it may help them take the first step to getting help too. And for those that have no idea what it's like to be addicted to drink i think it will allow everyone a better understanding of the problems and feelings of those that are suffering, surely that is a good thing in itself.Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

Without wanting to getinto religious arguments, sadly the AA base their 12-step recovery on faith in God. I am sure that many people do not have this faith and do not want to 'turn their lives over to him'. I personally think a thread on self-help could well be a useful thing.0 -
now now guys this is not the time or the place....... lets leave it for another time....

Thankyou.
I didn't realise the smokers thread was just a thread, I thought it was a subboard.
I will start a thread in the arms.
I didn't know what to expect, bethom's post made me cry.“Pleasure of love lasts but a moment, pain of love lasts a lifetime.”0 -

Well done for posting beer2006 - and fantastic idea for a sticky. I know people have received loads of support from the Smoking and Lose Weight threads, and that is fundamentally what makes MSE so great - the unquestioning care and dedication of the many people on here willing to help others.Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!
