Alcoholics forum

I am posting under another name. Because I am too ashamed to give my real login name, some people may well know me.
After seeing all of the help given to smokers under various forums, I would like for a Alcoholics forum to be set up.
I myself am one, that is difficult to write for me, I don't know what else to say, it will be difficult for people to say they have a problem, but many more people have a problem with alcohol, than with ciggies.
Maybe you all think differently, I would like to know.
I have looked for a forum that deals with this, but I can't find one, I could be mistaken, so please put me right.

Thankyou, for the link, but that was not what I wanted.
What I would like (and I can see that Martin will not want it) is a self help forum for those why want to help themselves.
This is the suggestions forum is it not, therefore, that is what I suggest.“Pleasure of love lasts but a moment, pain of love lasts a lifetime.”0 -
I dont think it's a case of Martin won't want it but at the end of the day these forums are for money saving rather than self help against addiction.0

Aaaah, makes sense now!0 -
I gave up smoking last year and I believe the support and insiration I recieved on amateur savers thread has made sure i stay a non smoker - in addition to that i also saved a lot of money therefore making it an appropriate thread for this forum.
So wouldnt giving alchohol up or at least cutting down be money saving as well then? Wine and spirits can be pretty expensive if you are buying a lot. I think its a great place to get support and lets face it since when was the vast majority of the threads in the arms anything to do with money saving.
I have decided to cut down significantly on alcohol myself this month - partly because i know my drinking increased quite a bit when i gave up smoking and partly because i have put a stone on in weight since stopping and so alcohol is a significant part of the weight gain. I wonder how many other people on this forum would also like to cut down or give up and therefore would find a support thread useful - a lot I suspect.
Its a shame you have to hide your real identity beer but i for one wish you all the best and hope you will be coffee2006 very soon0 -
If you type in alchohol support groups into google a lot come up that you can join for the support.my ex joined a few, but sadly carried on drinking!! "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

think this thread is best suited to the arms (although there is an irony in that!:D )0

You have taken the first step here, why not start a support thread in the arms along the lines of the stop smoking thread? Just invite people to post as an alter ego like you are doing if they don't feel comfortable using their real id's.
Don't ever be ashamed, it is nothing to be ashamed of. We are all here to support one another, and you will get a lot of support from people on here. I wish you all the best and will try and be of some support if I can. xxI live in my own little world, but it's ok as everyone knows me here0
