Flagship handset plagued by software freezing and speaker faults.

Sony Ericsson has suffered a new setback as one of its latest flagship handsets, the C905, has suffered high levels of returns.

Software freezing and speaker faults on the eight-megapixel C905 camera phone are responsible for returns as high as 30%, in some areas.

Sony Ericsson’s UK and Ireland managing director, Nathan Vautier, said: ‘We understand the specific quality issues were on early [batches of] C905 handsets in 2008, and we rapidly implemented steps to resolve the particular elements that caused concern, such as the speaker phone problems.’

    That's crap, mate
i use a c905 every day we had one replacement due to software issues and it has been perfect since and it is orange branded which is usually asking for trouble!! our shop phones get battered dropped kicked and the c905 has been fantastic, barely a scratch on it, the fact the camera barely matches the sony's and the fact on 2g the c905 has a battery life of 9hrs compared to lg's 3hrs! i'd take a c905 each and everytime!
and the c905 has been replaced with the 8gb version which hopefully SHOULD have the latest software with no bugs!

You make it sound like having neededone replacement is acceptable! I would personally expect a brand new phone to work 99% of the time without any replacements - if we were talking about, say, laptops, or central heating systems, or cars, we'd most likely be appalled that a large number of products are being returned as faulty, but we seem to think it's okay with mobiles!

in an ideal world nothing would ever need replacing, but generally with phones the first batch does tend to have software issues, it is not just a sony ericsson thing at least with sony ericssons they fix whatever issues they have e.g. nokia don't seem to care the handsets stay faulty! blackberry have had HUGE software issues with their latest handsets and the HTC phones the LG viewty was notorious for its issues and as far as i could see they didn't get fixed either!
I actually don't think it is that big of a deal, i warn my customer's of potential software issues, advise them to do regular updates regardless of the brand to stop issues, at least with a phone rather than a car it takes 2 mins to go on the SE website and do a software update to fix it
it's not isolated to phones either how many necessery updates and patches have microsoft released for their operating systems!??!
i have just had to replace my blackberry, was it a big deal, no! would i rather i didn't have to replace it yeah but i didn't get into a huff over it i just replaced it and got on with it!
I don't get mad over the fact goods are faulty it is a fact of life, it's the way a company deals with it that means something to me!
