    Why does it bother you so much?

    Some older phones don't support the new MVNO names, basically because the phone takes the name from the memory in the phone. All the (physical) networks have an identifier code e.g. 234 30 for T-mobile.

    With all the UK networks codes starting 234 and the last part for the network.

    As the previous posters say, some phones will allow the name stored to be over ridden by the sim. But this is not the case in older phones.If the phone is newer, a software update may help.But i think you have to pay for it outside the warranty period.
