Returning swimwear to Tesco

  • I still can't see what the difference is trying it on in the store and trying it on at home. Are we talking 'knickers' here (am I allowed to say that)? Personally I would keep mine on both in changing room and at home if I was trying the costume on. but some people may take them off in the changing rooms

I completely agree. I kept my underwear on when I tried on the one item at home, just the same as I would've done if I had tried them on instore.
  • This policy has been as far as im aware "live" for some time now, at least in my store. If it is faulty then we certainly would take it back and offer you another for the same price. Im afraid that with swimwear and other underwear you are not allowed to try them on for hygene reasons but it does tell you the size on the product. It is then your call as to take it or not.

PM me all the details and i will speak to someone in my store for you, see what info i can get ya.

    :)

i agree with ethans mum there! many a time ive wanted to try on in tesco but the queue is too long and not enough changing rooms and my 2 and 4 yr old dont want to hang around in a hot shop! so now i'll know i cannot buy swimwear and underwear from tesco!! theyve lost my custom!
mark steps are you saying they wouldnt even allow me to try on within the store?

Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper Photogenic
Maybe they could open parent and child fitting rooms, so those with children wouldn't have to wait in a queue?
Here I go again on my own....

Across you have made me smile today- I too have a 2 year old and a 4 year old!

Becles that would be great! Most changing rooms are so tiny, It's bad enough trying to squeeze in some of them (I'm 8 months pregnant!), let alone dragging kids in with you. :)

I'm surprised this is a newish policy. I would have thought swimwear was classed like underwear and non returnable due to hygiene reasons.
I would never return swimwear because of the hygiene reason, even though I always try such items with underwear on.
I think Tesco are quite right with this policy, unless..
(As you said) Signs clearly noting a return policy was not displayed near the items or..
If the item was damaged/faulty or incorrectly labeled - ie size tag says 8 but it seems to be a size 14.. In which case they should refund.

Hope you get the refund :D
    The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

  • Also do not be afraid to complain loudly. They can be a bit more keen to resolve issues quicky if you are putting the other customers off spending money!

The above is quite true when wanting to complain... coming from my experience in the retail industry, customers complaining very loudly -and at a time when the store is normally very full with long queues waiting to be served- is normally helped much quicker and more efficientely just to get rid of them (or keep them quiet!)

Doesnt help me much of course, Im not the kind of person to have a loud outbreak in public...

But back to the point, any good, properly trained SA should mention to you at the paypoint (before you pay) that some products are non-refundable like pierced earrings, underwear etc...
    ** i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay **
