It's the value offerring in the little dumpy box that is made by sunnybisk and is better for insulation purposes than to eat !!!
Yes I usually buy regular shop-brand weetabix! Luckily Sainsbury's refunded the cost of the basics wheat biscuits in Nectar points with 200 bonus points - so all was not lost

Sainsbury's Basics Tomato Ketchup - my son can't tell it from Heinz, and he's a tomato sauce expert! 35p for 545g"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

sains. basics tinned custard is cheaper than a packet but did have an unusual aftertaste I thought. Still, the kids didnt notice!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Another favourite "Basics" not mentioned is their citrus pack. Usually about 10 Mandarins/Clementines/Satsumas (whatever is available to them) for around 60p. This compares very favourably IMHO to the £1.60 odd they charge for their usual 6 citrus fruit in a bag (though on an eternal 2 for £2 offer).
Quality wise I find the Basics pack of fruit appears to be much fresher / better tasting than the more expensive ones. I've had to throw over half of the more expensive ones away in the past because they are woody or squishy.

Sainsburys Basics Middle Bacon:
Around £1.50 per pack and oh so tasty!0 -
I buy value juice in Sainsburys or Tesco, and today I've bought Sainsburys value custard creams for OH to see if he likes them.
I also bought value fruit cheesecake today (79p) and it's great - similar quality to other frozen cheesecakes, the only difference is perhaps the top layer which is nearer jam than fruit purée. I think next time I may serve it with fresh raspberries or strawberries alongside
We are lucky enough to have a Lidl within walking distance - unfortunately I daren't go in very often as they do my absolute favourite chocolate treat - hazelnut wafer bars. :rotfl: (Also I get a bit frustrated at not doing a whole shop's worth in there and having to go elsewhere to finish up.)Do I Need One Stops All Unnecessary Reckless Spending£2 CSC - £30 :kisses3:0 -
I find Sainsburys Value range great for the following - tinned chopped tomaties (15p a can), kidney beans (13p a can) toilet rolls (think 48p for 4?) stock cubes (can't remember) and thin bleach/bathroom cleaner (something daft like 25P for a big bleach and 20p for the cleaner?) Their large bags of carrots are good - something like 50p for a bag that lasts me a week +.
The canned pulses, 3 tins for £1 are also good value although not in the Basics range.
Aldi are great for fruit juice that's not from concentrate - think it's 56p a litre for red grape juice.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Always look at the ingredients as well to see the difference - I tried their Basics Weetabix equivalent - main diff was no added vitamins - if I were desparate they were tolerable but with little hard bits and didn't absorb milk and soften like others so I decided to go back to their own branded type or Lidl also do a very good cheap alternative.
Got some big Basics Pork Chops - thought they might shrink but grilled one - seems good -
Their basic mild Cheddar is ok much better than Asda who have horrible cheap "never again" tasteless cheese.
The garish packaging really puts me off a lot of this stuff - it hard to see past that - they often have stripes as if you are buying a prison uniform or poor workhouse clothes - aesthetically they discourage you from buying unless it is really a conscious choice. Deliberate, I'm sure, or they won't make much money out of you.

It reminds me of nylon football shirts for some reason
I don't mind the packaging (which makes me wonder if truly I'm impressed with silver and lush maroon and brown and gold packaging on the Finer ranges) but had a slight pause while checking out the biscuits yesterday - it's bad enough falling over in Boots while trying to see to the back of the bottom shelves, now I'm doing it in the supermarkets too!Do I Need One Stops All Unnecessary Reckless Spending£2 CSC - £30 :kisses3:0 -
Pack of digestive biscuits - 20p! And the chocolate digestives are 25p. Only problem is that I tend to buy about 5 packs at once, and they get eaten very quickly!0
