Hi,
I'm looking for a new ISP. I only want broadband internet access - no interest in land line calls or mobile deals or anything like that, just unlimited broadband. Who's good?

The only non mobile broadband supplier that provides Broadband Only is Virgin Media (Cable),any other non mobile broadband supplier will need a landline.

I think the OP is OK with a landline, but he doesn't want a call package with it.
OP, can you confirm if you already have a BT landline? If not then as jhp says you only have the Virgin option (if available in your area) unless you install one.
It would help to know who you are with now and what you are paying, what your budget is etc.No free lunch, and no free laptop

very happy with the o2 deal i got , often some specials on here0

Which? Magazine scored O2 as their top "best buy" in their customer satisfaction survey for broadband alone.
The areas they looked at were: ease of set up, customer service and reliability of connection. They scored 5 stars (top marks) in each area.0 -
Macman - you're right - I've already got a BT landline. What I meant was I'm only looking to get broadband on it's own and not as part of a phone/internet/tv/kitchen sink package as I've already got a good phone deal.
Current ISP is Tiscali (hence the query!) and on unlimited access, which I'd also want.0 -
Are you already out of contract with Tiscali?
Depends who is LLU on your local exchange, check on samknows.com, the bit you are interested in is the 'LLU Operators list'. These one are likely to give you the best deal. I would also recommend o2 if they are on that list, if you are an o2 mobile customer (contract or PAYG) you get about a fiver a month off, CS is good, free tech support line 24/7, free wireless router, free McAffee security. Unlimited downloads, (subject to fair use policy as usual).
But look elsewhere if they are not LLU, as otherwise you just get the more expensive o2 Access service which is BT resold. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I agree with macman, O2 or Be. Be is pure internet and excellent for it. It's £13.50 for upto 8MB or £17.50 for upto 24MB. I can recommend Be as thats what I have, but I know O2 is the same network (but separate company) so it benefits from the same consistent speed I get. With Be I get truly unlimited downloads. Contracts and customer service seem straight forward and focused on providing what you're paying for.0

o2 standard 8MB service is £7.34 for o2 customers, £12.23 otherwise. o2 Access is about £17/£22 respectively.
I've recommended people if necessary to buy a cheap o2 PAYG mobile and top it up with £10 every 3 months, this qualifies you for the discount. So you spend £40, save £59. Oh, and 1st month on all packages is currently free.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I am with Titan ADSL ( http://www.titan-adsl.co.uk/index-11.html ) and am VERY pleased with the quality of the ADSL and with the customer service. Packages start at £16.15/month although I have a business connection and pay a little more, but need the higher upload speeds.0

Macman,
I'm considering getting a cheap O2 PAYG phone as you mentioned to take advantage of their broadband but I can only see that you have to top up EVERY month with £10 on their current tariffs.
I was looking for a tariff where you could just top up £10 to use for texts or calls, as and when I wanted, as this would be my second (emergency) phone - am I missing something?0
