Anyone heard of this? Just got an e-mail from iPoints about it, sounds a bit suspicious.

It looks like one of those too good to be true offers. How reputable are ipoints? Surely they wouldn't want to be linked to a scam.0

Just got this email from ipoints too. Definately sounds too good to be true but wonder whether ipoints would want to be associated with a scam?
Will be watching this thread with interest!0 -
been getting a lot of what appear to be shady emails from ipoints recently. I just don't bother with them, best to ignore
'For this 100% legal operation'

Just received the same email from ipoints and had the same doubts. Sounds a bit too good to be true!0

It's clearly too good to be true and I wouldn't touch it with the proverbial barge pole.
Frankly, I'm surprised ipoints were willing to circulate this. I shall treat their emails in future with a good deal of caution.0 -
i went through to the details page, but theres no info on the site so defo 1 to avoid...
i dont like ipoints anyway! dunno y im still wiv em!0 -
Yes, I got that ipoints email too, and - just like everybody else of you - I smelled a rat. (REAL rats I DO like.)
I made sure I did NOT click on the link in the email, because a quick look in the email source showed me that my ipoints membership number could have been disclosed. (To find the source, you right-click the email, then select 'View Source', then look for the web address that follows "<a href").
The company has at least two web addresses:
http://www.quickpenny.net
http://www.quickpenny.org
The .org one was displayed in the email, but a quick googling came up with the .net one. So I decided to have a look at both.
First I went to the .net address. I clicked on the 'Click Here' button and the site displayed the following text:To proceed we need you to answer a few questions. If you tick the 'No' box, you are told:
We confirm that all information is for our use only and will not be divulged to any third party. In the event you do not wish to participate in our service all information will be destroyed
Do you live in the U.K. or R.O.I and own or rent your own property?Thank you for your time, unfortunately this offer is restricted to U.K. and R.O.I. residents. So I ticked the 'Yes' box and the next screen then displayed the following:
What we require:I clicked the 'More' button and now you were asked to fill in a form with your details: name and address, landline and mobile phone numbers, and email address. You also had to opt for payment either to your bank account or your PayPal account. They also told you again:- That we are able to contact you via email and telephone
- If you move you must notify us 30 days in advance
- You must have a bank account or paypal account to receive payment from us
- You must check your mail when we advise you it has been sent to you
- You must mail the correspondence to us in the pre paid envelope provided by us
- 25 pounds every time that will be paid to you into your bank or paypal account
- Five pound bonus for referrals that are accepted by us
- All envelopes and postage provided for and paid by us
Payment will not be made for the following reasons:- Non response to email or telephone
- Not carrying out the redirection or interference with the mail
We confirm that all information is for our use only and will not be divulged to any third party and will be destroyed if this application is not processed or cancelledYou must have a bank account or PayPal account to receive payment from us.I gave them these details: Mickey Mouse, 1 Anywhere Street, Anywhere, W1A 1AA, UK, Tel.: 01234 567 890 and 07777 777 777, email: idiot@idiot.com.
I clicked on 'Submit' and the screen informed me:Thank you for your application, one of our members of staff will contact you shortlyWell, good luck to them, teehee. For very obvious reasons, I did not wish to give them my real details,
so I was not able to find out what the contact with the 'staff member' would reveal.
Now comes the good bit:
I tried the same with the .org address:
The website looked exactly like the other one; the only difference was the initial screening question. Instead of asking if you were a resident of the UK or Ireland, you were asked:Are you an active subscriber of Sky Television? If you ticked 'Yes', you were told:Thank you for your time. Unfortunately this offer is restricted to non-subscribers.What???????????????? :rotfl:
If you clicked 'No', the screen proceeded as with the other website detailed above.
Has anybody actually got so far as to make contact with the 'staff member'?
By the way:
There is also http://www.quickpenny.com. It opens the 'Magento Demo Store' and is filled with 'lorem ipsum', which is the gibberish used in the printing industry as the standard dummy text.

It's me again.
I've just send a query to ipoints' customer services. If there is any reply, I'll publish it here.0 -
