Does T-mobile friends and family discount apply to mobile BB?

Hi all,

I am in the lucky position of having the F+F discount for life with T-mobile. My contract is up on the March 28th. I am keen to secure a good retention deal (hopefully?!) but would also like to take out a new mobile BB contract with them as well. Would this also benefit from the 50% discount? By taking out thisnew mobile BB contract would it give me more sway it getting a good retention deal?

Thanks for any help.

Si

You'd have to use a second friends and family code for MBB, can't share it, its 1 code per line, so the MBB would be full price.

  • broadband discount is only for employee's (or if the employee wants to give it to someone thats up to them) and they only get 1 line for it i'm sure. 5 for friends and family, 1 for mobile broadband and their staff plan

Thank you both for taking the time to reply.

I thought it would have been too good to be true!

I had heard that T-mobile do not give very good retention deals to discounted customers, so was looking at another angle to get a good deal.

Still more that happy with my 50% discount.

    Thanks again Si
  • they are supposed to be changing the retention deals for F&R disc, trying to get better deals ..... I don't work for retentions but I'm sure I seen it at work the other day they were going to work out the offers slightly better than before.

Thanks for the info Jess. I have also posted about my upgrade on the Retentions thread, that I see you frequent.

If I could be cheeky and ask you another question. I believe my F+R disc is for life, but how could I check this ? I just want to make sure I maintain the discount, as not really a 'must have the latest phone' sort of person.

    Appreciate your help Jess.

    Cheers Si
  • your discount will be on the account for as long as you pay by direct debit and you are on an eligible price plan. So you shouldn't need to worry about losing it. When did you get it? was it before august 08? It's just for everyone that signed up to it after august, it's only on the account until the employee leaves, then it expires off the account at the end of the contract. For all the lucky ppl to be on the old F&R, it's for life (Like my sister :D)

    Thanks for the replies.

I got the F+R discount on this contract 18 months ago, about September 07. I guess that makes me a 'F+R for life' lucky boy then! If so, then I would be silly to swap the discount for a super new phone that I would probably drop after 2 weeks!!
Does the discount still apply if I downgrade, for example to Flext 25.

    Cheers for your help. Si
  • I'm not sure if you can downgrade any lower than £30 on the F&R anymore, as they changed the eligible plans in august. There isn't a flext 25 anymore, and as from april 1st, there wont be a flext 30, and flext 35 will only be available on upgrade. There are combi plans, but you wouldn't get the unlmtd sms with it as it's a promotion.

Thanks for your help Jess. I am a lot clearer on the t-mobile workings now. Now I have got to look at if I shoud swap to that Flext refresh with all 08 numbers included etc.

    Thanks again.
    All the best Si
