Who would hire a woman worker - Maternity pay to Treble !

Whether the money comes from the business or the Govt, either prices or taxes will be higher than they would otherwise be, and then everyone else needs to ask for pay rises, and so inflationary factors make everything more expensive, and so the mothers-to-be ask for more maternity, and so on, and so on.

Do people really think there shouldn't be ANY post-birth benefit entitlement? I guess that would keep the population down. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0

Depends if you view that they are bringing future tax payers in to the world.(I agree on the employer bit but there is statory paternity pay that is paid by the goverment)
It is like saying why should younger generations support the old?0 -
The only way to get rid of this type of sexism and prevent employers shying away from women of childbearing age is to make parental post-birth leave available to either parent.Been away for a while.0

See this is my point. I had two weeks off if I had no children it would be no weeks.
How can you give to someone without making it less equal for someone else.0 -
I would also make it so the maternity entitlement could be divided so, for example, the mother could look after the chilld for the first three months and the father or other primary carer could do the remainder.this would give people the option to leave work for less time but know their child was in safe hands. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0
