I can't see this happening any time soon... Seeing as they've been promising to extend paid maternity leave from 9 months to 12 for over 2 years and are still dragging their feet...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

What a shocking thing to say! I've been of child bearing age for the last ten years, doesn't mean I want one though, I'd rather be working0

I had my children at the wrong time......even the current maternity leave/payments are very generous compared to what we got.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
More quality scare-mongering from the newspaper that supported Hitler.
It's got a good TV guide though...0 -
Proper order too! Why shouldn't it be increased and the term extended? And I say this as a woman who doesn't particularly want children.0

More La-La land policies from the EU. They seem to be completely detached from reality."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Maternity leave is absolutely abhorrent- if you are not at work, you should not be paid!'I can't deny the British influence on my accent and mannerisms, but I don't know the British national anthem, I didn't weep for Princess Diana and I always cheer when Britain loses at sport. That's how British I am' Constantine-Simms. :T

One would hope most of the pay would be claimable from the government if they go ahead with this... At a difficult time, this will kill small business, and will simply encourage employers to stay away from those with bumpy jumpers.0 -
You have to balance it up - when maternity leave was 6 weeks long, loads of women signed off work on sick leave as they had no choice. It was an unworkable policy. So now they bring in proper maternity leave to allow for honesty and a decent time for women to stay at home. Presumably they also wish to encourage breastfeeding of babies on health grounds and allow time for this.Stercus accidit0
