i am currently doing the emotional intelligence course - highly recommended ( and i am a teacher by day and a night class tutor by night, so have some vague inkling of what makes a good course!)

Tried for courses with both Portsmouth and Chesterfield post codes but just keep getting message saying that the only available funded course in either area was some basic IT skills one.

Given my 18 years in IT, that might be a bit embarrassing!!! :-D

I did a course in telematics via v2l and was really pleased with it - it taught me the basics of html (web design) and I can now put a site together as I understand basic coding, not great but has been ideal for small local self employed people that want a template adapted to suit their needs!

Vision2learn have messed me about no end. They keep emailing me offering IT courses then say there's nothing in my area or there are no vacancies. Then they said there was a vacancy and had me fill in a form with all my personal details then they emailed me and said the course was full.

It says some are free and some you have to pay for. To be honest I'm just doing one of them to fill some time - one of the basic psychology courses. Nearly finished it now so shall see how much they want for the certificate.

Haha .. oh noo.. Just did a 2 hour course on Alison, without realising I had to pay for the certificate at the end.. silly me!
There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't ;)
  • Coursera.org has about a dozen free courses, a couple of which have just started and the rest of which will hopefully be starting soon. (I'd post a proper link but I'm a newbie.) You don't get any sort of academic credit for it, though, just a certificate of completion. They're mostly computer science courses (some are at the mathematical end of the spectrum, and there are a few courses in medicine and engineering), and mostly run by Stanford.
