Usually for V2L courses you need to be employed so they can get funding, but there is no harm in applying.
If you are unemployed check out your local college. They usually tend to have free job related courses if you are unemployed. Eg. Interview techniques, CV writing and basic IT courses. I don't think you can do these from home, you probably have to attend college though.
  • Just tried this link and unfortunately courses are not available in Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales....although it does say that they are working with local library boards and colleges to try and get funding and support available in these countries so maybe worth keeping an eye on it??
After all they are offering courses for free!!!

Tried to sign up to the Healthy Living one and got the message that there's no funding at all in Wales:

The situation at the moment is that we do not yet have a college in Wales to support vision2learn learners. We are continuing to attempt to get a college or colleges in Wales to take learners living in Wales and access funding via ELWa. We will let you know as soon as we have a college that will enrol you.

never in my area  thanks anyway xx
  • None in mine either... :(

Annoying because I could accept a course run in Central London and not specifically in my postcode area.

Life beyond voluntary work scares me, but what else is there?

the company running this seems to be the same as vision2learn, who were also offering free courses a while back, and on top of that they were also giving cashback for signing up via the various cashback sites, £3.50 through greasypalm for example, might be worth investigating, if they have a similar cashback scheme... or the old vision2learn one is valid for this company too.
I once did a course via vision2learn. They were absoulte crap at customer service and i got the impression that they are creaming money off central Government ,providing on line courses that a muppet could pass and which might not be all that valid in the real world.

But then what do i know?
Seem to me that a few bits of paper are worth far more these days..
