Yeh u can only get an exchange on items which have to be like for like and be for the same value or you pay the difference without a receipt.
Like I have said the policy may have changed, but you would have to speak to customer service, as this is what the manager has told me.

The bag's free in larger stores when you purchase any item from the "Be Delicious" range. There's a ladies one which is like a square shopping felt like green bag with a leather shoulder strap and a man's one which is a large beige bag with two pockets in the front and a zip at the top which you can change from being an over the shoulder bag to a backpack. I got the gents one as i thought this was much nicer and there's plenty of room for my uni folders. Got this free with the 15quid rollerball of Be Delicious, wahay! :j Oh, by the way, St Andrews dont have the bags but Dundee has loads.

This is how Boots get on to the scams that have happened and there was a major scam that happened recently but cannot mention as it is private.
