ahh yes Krystal I meant to comment on that too, How ridiculous for a health professional to say that BFing covers you for 6months!!
I'll role out my fave line here; someone should complain about that! :D

It has to be said though that in my case, no 1 was an assisted conception with massive doses of fertility drugs, following 6 years trying to conceive. Hence why the initial advice that b/f would be enough was probably given, and it certainly made no 2 even more of a (wonderful) surprise!

No excuse mind you for the same advice to be given to me after no 2 was born, and I know for a fact that it is given in some parts of the country, as my DD's godmother was told the same thing after she had her little boy 4 years ago, and she was very quick to tell the FPC adviser that she was talking out of her rear, as she was gm to a little girl born to a mum who'd followed that advice!

Nicki, I need to know if it's different in Scotland? He should be attending a main stream school and goes into preschool after the summer.

It almost certainly is, in terms of what the rules are and how they are applied. Sorry!

I guess the only way I could help then, might be with tactics which have worked to make sure that your child gets what he needs, and has been promised to him, and also in terms of what you need to do to educate yourself. The actual rules might be different, but I suspect the frameworks themselves are not too dissimilar.
