Thanks for the warm welcome, i am already struggling to keep up!

I will prob lurk for a while until it all sinks in, can i just ask though, how many told their mums immediately, or did you wait a while? I talk to my mum 3-4 times a day! so i am already struggling, but OH wants us to wait a while as he is worried it is all fake.
    Thanks.

Sorry, can't help as my mum's not interested.

Would however be gutted if my DD didn't tell me straightaway as we are close. X
Too many children, too little time!!!

    Hi all..

LL, was it you who asked about telling your mum? I txt mine about ten mins after the word "Pregnant" appeared on the CB test! Just enough time between to phone OH at work to tell him :D

Am sure I had more to say.. it'll come back to me later!

It was the good old Daily Mail, and also the free papers distributed in London by the publishers of the Daily Mail.

I don't really approve of people dictating what you can or can't eat when pregnant either, but equally I wouldn't deliberately go out and drink more than the recommended alcohol limits knowing that this could lead my child to be born with serious learning difficulties and physical problems, and if I did succumb to temptation to do this, I wouldn't feel particularly good about myself and want the whole world to know about it.

It's not really the same as eating soft cheese or liver IMO. More like smoking or using recreational drugs when pregnant. Does there come a point when you see a pregnant women doing something which has a strong likelihood to harm the child where you should speak up, or is it always down to the women right up to the point of delivery? I'm not sure how I feel about this tbh so am interested in what others think.

I had this dilemma yesterday. After my last day at work some of us went to a bar, and I had a blackcurrant and soda and watched appalled as my line manager's line manager (with me?) who is about four weeks behind me and so about 20 weeks had two halves of lager! She even announced 'I'm going to have a beer!' like it was something to be proud of.

I could only assume she has never had a mc or a scare in pregnancy like I have or she'd not risk it. I didn;t say anything though.

I have had alcohol through pregnancy but VERY limited amounts... we're talking a small glass maybe every 2 weeks of wine. In fairness I probably haven't finished most of them as they give me heartburn but if anyone had told me I should have had them I'd probably have been extreemly rude and told them to mind their own business...
I think totally abstaining is extreem but if that is what people want to do then that's fine - if people want to drink regularly when pregnant then that's their business - same as I don't comment on them eating pate, salami or doing anything generally that is debatable depending on what source you check...
Moderation I think is the way forward...

Oh, I've had some watered-down wine occasionally, but not neat and not a full glass. I've even given up coffee.

I don't drink but wine tastes really good right now! I wouldn't drink it though, cos I'd end up in a state as I have honestly never drank before at all.

Coffee has been given up but not through choice. I can't stand the smell and taste of it right now but so want a nice fresh brewed :coffee: mmmm

Great big dilemma, I fancy chocolate, do I steal an easter egg knowing that I will have one bite then be off it again?

Hmmmm watered down wine... Maybe I should try that next time :) Still give me heartburn though I bet!
I have probably had less Coke than wine in the last 7 months and that is the only caffeine I consume usually... I hate coffee (yucky!) and tea gives me migraines so only have it about 4 times a year if that :rotfl: so I guess my only "vice" has been a small glass of wine every so often... Been pretty good apart from that really - ok a bit of junk food but hohum :)

I managed to eat reindeer, moose and deer pate whilst pregnant! That was during a trip to Finland, where I hiked up a mountain, lugged two laptops and a case around an airport and generally did everything I wouldn't have done had I known!

    Crp lappy so can't multipost.

i get these all the time mainly just on my right cheek and right top of my leg - I often wondered if it was because I mainly slept on my left hand side. My problem is I pick at them and end up with them for ages
