  • Hi
Have you had an info pack? Just had a quick look through the T&C's for you and the only pertinent bit I can find is 5c The Company will only allow one Independent Tradership to operate from a single postal address, but if you have already seen an application form perhaps then this is made clear on the 2nd applicant section anyway as it states they have to be at the same address.
Maybe just ring Phoenix for clarification?
Good luck with becoming a trader. It sounds like a good idea if you both want to do it, I know I certainly feel like I could clone myself some days! Although the only downside I see is it will take twice as long to make any money!!

Thanks for your reply DWW... I have got the info pack and like you can't find anything specific. The application form does allow for a 2nd applicant and we are happy to operate from one address.

Re. profits, it's true that we will have to split anything but childcare is a big issue for us and we would be looking after each others kids whilst the other is doing events and sales. Together we will certainly make a better team than on our own. There are potential issues around working with a friend but we hope to spend a good amount of time making sure we do things professionally like any other business plan.

Anyone got any experiences they can share of being joint Phoenix Traders(or pitfalls I haven't thought of)?

    Thanks x
  • Hi,
At the January Trader meeting, at lunch I sat next to two friends who were joint Traders and they found it worked well for them, probably for all the reasons you want to do it. I am not sure how they worked out the money side, but I expect you just come up with an agreement that works for you.
Perhaps just phone Phoenix for advice, they are very friendly!

Thanks Wibbly, it's helpful to know that some people are doing PT this way. The more I read through the threads on this site, the more I'm keen to join. At the moment due to mine and my friends circumstances (i.e. small children!) mean that there are many jobs and even self-employment opportunities are not feasible.

The Phoenix setup looks like we can do something that requires a relatively small outlay and take it as far as we wish.

    Thanks for your comments. xx

How are we all getting on?

I am looking forward to seeing the new brochures! Not sure whether to buy a special offer Christmas pack, since last year it was a struggle to sell the Christmas cards. I am better established now though.
:) Thank you to all OPs :)

    Hi All

Just to let you know about my party the other week. Unfortunatley is wasn't very good. This due to people not bothering to turn up and not letting me know and these included family members:mad:

Anyway not to be put off I am going to have one at my house and 2 other people have said they will have one too I am wondering if I should wait now for the christmas stock as I will probably do them all in August anyway.

I thought I may just do some brochure drops now to use up my brochures before they expire.

Can't wait to see the christmas stock I am getting impatient:o
  • Aw, Busyb, I'm sorry to hear it didn't go well. If it's any consolation, I've done a toddler group this morning where only about 8 people attended and I sold just under £30 from stock, which is one of my least profitable events yet! I was hoping for some orders as I received a £20 order through the door yesterday. I'll have to send some emails to try to encourage some orders over the weekend.

I can't go to the roadshow tomorrow either, as OH has had minor surgery today and can't be left alone. I was really looking forward to seeing the new range. Grrrr!

Sorry to hear that, and remember you never know what is just around the corner.

The least I have ever taken was at a toddler group, and was £0!

  • Hi, just wanted to say that I've had some sucess with leaving baskets in school staffrooms, just picked up from 2 schools and got £80 of sales in total for minimal effort. Also publicity as one of them booked me to go to their PTA pamper night. It's getting near to the end of term, but still worthwhile doing.

Not tried businesses yet...a bit scared to be honest, school staff rooms are a familar and friendly place!

Hi All! I'm pretty new to this whole PT thing. Hadn't expected much, but have to say its all taken off, and love it / love the product. Really looking forward to the new brochure. Planning a brochure drop to get rid of my remaining stock. Best thing of all for me has been a Coffee & Cards at home - £222 taken, and lots of fun. Taking a fundraising angle to most of these - find that although I give 10% of turnover to one of my daughters' many charities (she's severely disabled) I reckon I get more people prepared to spend as a result, so win-win.

Only one downer I'd like your advice on. I decided to approach two schools (one is my daughters' special needs school) and another private school re having baskets of cards in their staff room. They were very happy to do this. To minimise any work effort on their part I put an 'honesty box' (tin with coin slot), 100 cards / 10 packs of giftwrap and tags as well as 10 brochures, and a laminated card with simple instructions - also advising 10% to the school PTA. Looks really lovely. However, first week I collected I was £3 (private school) down on one basket and £16 on the other (daughter's school). I topped the baskets up over the weekend, and decided not to mention it to the private school (as still managed to take £58.40 that 1st week), but did mention it to my daughters' school - the secretary decided to email around and stopped anyone buying more cards until all the money replaced. No joy on that front by the end of this week. Collected the basket from the private school today - £11 down. Is anyone having this problem - any tips anyone?
  • That's really bad news Littlepeapoppy, I don't do baskets myself but I would imagine the only way round it would be if you get someone to take responsibility for selling the cards from the basket in return for a percentage of any sales.

Welcome to the thread by the way and glad you are enjoying Phoenix!
