Egg Loans PPI

Hello Im back here on MSE after burying my head in the sand if im honest, but now it is time to sort everything out!

Ok here we go:

I had 3 Egg Loans in the past probably between 2000-2005/6, each time when I took ou the loans I did it over the phone not on line. At the time I knew no better and was young and just thought it was a neccesity of getting the loan agreed in fact it was put to me "well we cant offer you that without having the protection". So I just took it.

Now a few questions is this mis-selling, Im thinking it is? can anyone advise

I settled all my loans in full and never missed a payment over the times I had them.
Now as I settled them all in full I decided a few months ago to shred all of the information I had kept, and in this was all of the documents. Is this going to be a problem for any process of reclaiming?

I feel so angry now that I have done this but I am determined to reclaim from them if there is a genuine case which I feel there is?

Can anyone advise please?

Cheers

    Hi there

And in answer to your questions its a high yes, with your being young and vulnerable.
I would now go got it.

Here is more info which is useful to help your case:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
There are other reasons as well which may apply to you on the link and also a first stage template letter.

Add your own reasons to the letter and they have 8 weeks to respond in full, post by recorded delivery, keep on at them, so for instance if you get the usual standard bog off response letter first time, write back, keep at them until you recieve the final response from them.
    Post by recorded delivery.

However if still unsuccessful by the final response they should inform you of how you can take this further, such as the financial ombudsman service (FOS) who are also a free service to use.

Mention about all the loans you have had with them on the one letter and the account numbers if you still have these.

    Good luck.;)

Do you still have the agreements for these loans?

  • Many Thanks for the reply, encouraging words and advice.

I know I dont have the paperwork as good old me, as I settled them in favour of transferring them to a lower rate APR card/s I shredded all the paperwork last year!?!!!!! Doh what a mistake to make!!

So literally I have just trawled through my online statements and to my relief I have found what I believe to be all three Egg loan account numbers!!!! Hallelujah!!!:j

So now I can include these in the template letters and take it from there. I had loans that varied in region from £10K, £16K and £20K going back to 2000ish settled 2003, 2004, 2007 respectively!!! Oh me oh my!!! I cant begin to think whether the figure would be small or large and certainly dont want to count my chickens before they have been even been laid, let alone hatch!

Im in the process of sorting all of my debt and I have loads of advice to seek and questions to ask, as I am in 2009 going to tackle my debt once and for all! Two Steps back, to move a mile forward!!!

    Hi hun,

I know what you mean, and I used to think and worry about that, I went through my SARN as much as I could and with most of it I did remember, but other than that I am uncertain here, however, if you feel you have not received everything requested, write back and question them on this.
If this is the case ask them to supply the missing information to you within 7 days, if not they need to explain why they cannot provide it.

All details are help on their data/microfiche for at least 6 years, that is in England and Wales anyway.;)

I have just logged a complaint with Egg for PPI and have had a reply telling me they looking into it. Just wondered though, has anyone had success with Abbey for PPI mis-selling.
