Log a formal complaint with BT, and send them a copy of the recording.

My advice? Stick it on Youtube and we can all have a laugh! Also, you'll soon get a very nice call from BT.

BT will be highly embarrased by this call and if they have any sense will at the least send you a nice hamper.

Are you in the telephone preferation service eg opted out of sales calls as this would mean they are in even more trouble.

I'm impressed you have the fore sight to record your calls

BT are probably going all out for the worst customer service award for 2009.
    They won it last year!

You have not told us what you want advice about?

Advice on whether you should post it on You Tube? No - whats the point in letting more people hear foul language?

Advice on the legality of recording telephone calls - its legal but you have to tell them in advance if you intend to use that recording in court or with a regulatory body as evidence.

Thwe only advice I can give you is - do a transcript of the call and send it as a formal complaint to BT. Let them deal with it as they see fit - I would then expect an apology from them, and if you get it then forget the whole thing. No point in making a big thing out of it really - just complain and move on

Advice on the legality of recording telephone calls - its illegal if you don't notify the other party at the front end of the call.

    No it isn't.

But you cannot use it as evidence in a court (which is irrelevant in this situation).

    sarahg,

I disagree with this. Surely the court decides what is admissible as evidence.

You would need the authority of the other person to use in evidence, or obtain a court order to adduce the evidence without the authority of the third party. All of which is irrelevant in this case. I was explaining it in simple terms, given that it doesn't really matter anyway.

Quite simply, the OP has recorded the conversation for her own purposes, not for use in Court. Which is fine.
