    Ok IMPORTANT QUESTION!

She seems to have cooled down a bit now...thank god!
She has said as soon as she receives her refund she will send the item back to me. I just want to double check that this is correct. Do I send her the money and then she sends me the item, or should she send me the item first?
I am worried that as I am only going to refund her the original item price, and not extra for her to post it, that when I send her the money she will say "oh you didn't send me enough to send it back, sorry" and she will end up getting a free item off me!

    oh dear...

well before I had a chance to reply to her email, she sent me another email being VERY VERY rude and making out like I am doing something wrong despite the fact I have been very nice in offering her a full refund.
The email was one of the nastiest things I have ever read, even included a personal insult!

How can people get away with this, I don't understand why ebay removed the option for sellers to leave buyers with negative feedback.

    Abuse is unacceptable.

Report her email to eBay. Tell her you have done so and block her email address and id from bidding.

Tell her that you have reported her for abuse.

She can choose to start a dispute, in which case the item will need to be returned at her expense.

If she negs you, respond (factually) saying that she was abusive and that a refund had been offered.

    NO !

Do not refund until the item has been returned to you. Once you refund, you will never see it.

Do not refund her return postage.

Sounds like she is a con artist trying to get it for free (has probably worn it to a do and spilt her guiness down it).

From this point in, just reply to every email with a simple, "As discussed before, please raise a claim through paypal and a full refund will be issued" - just make sure it goes through the eBay messaging system. Let them shout and scream all they want, laugh it off to yourself as being the rantings of an inadequate, but do not rise to anything they say, and do not take it personally. The world is full of simple idiots, and sadly one of them has found you - nothing personal, just bad luck of the draw.

If it is a personal insult sent by email rather than eBay messages, then take a read of this page - http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/account/unwanted-email.html

You owe them no favours any longer, don't get dragged down to their level.

NO NO NO! Wait until you receive the item before giving her a refund (that's only reasonable). Otherwise you refund the money and..... ooh, her lucky day, a refund AND the item.

You could try reporting her to Ebay but IMO it's a waste of time; they're not interested. But definitely block her user id from any of your future auctions.
  • Incredible cheek! You are following standared Ebay practice, she's not. What's the guarantee that she will return the item if you give her a refund first? No garment, no refund!

yeah - just emphasising this as well!!!

It now sounds more and more like an experienced scammer trying to hustle you.

As above, a simple "As discussed, please raise a claim through paypal for a full refund"

Ok I told her I would give her a refund as soon as I received the item back...

she told me I am "just being awkward"

I will not back down or change my offer of a full refund as soon as I receive the item. So she will have to back down first.

She has now informed me she is going to open a dispute. I had originally asked her to do this and she refused!
Surely in a dispute, I will be the one in the right? And what exactly will happen?

*sigh* this woman is driving me crazy!

You will get a notification by email from paypal to action on a dispute - and you will be given a few options depending on the type of claim, such as prove delivery (only for item not received), offer a full refund upon return, offer a partial refund, or escalate to a claim. (been a while since I seen one, so may be slightly different now)

If you select the "full refund upon return", then the buyer will be told to return the item, with tracking, and once it shows as delivered they will receive the full amount they originally paid - but nowt for the cost of return.

If you wanted to be really naughty, you could escalate to a claim.... :D Make them wait 2-3 weeks for paypal to investigate - although this is almost certainly a guaranteed neg!
