Here's a clue: Michael Jackson is neither mad enough nor rich enough to be able to continue his relationship with Bubbles.
(Yes, I know. Chimpanzees are apes and apes are not monkeys.)0 -

All the above negatives + 1 sentence: ANY primate is capable of carrying and transmitting Hepatitis and HIV.
I refuse to treat them and specialists in their care are not easy to come by - the nearest one to me is 100miles away. That said I have known clients with them but I do disapprove greatly.Garantissez-moi de mes amis, je saurai me defendre de mes ennemis0 -

Don't do it. It's incredibly cruel to keep them as pets as they're very social animals.
I don't know if you've ever actually held a monkey but they're NOT cute and cuddy things. They're viscious things with a hell of a bite and they pull (hard!) on clothes, hair, earrings etc.
I adore primates and always wanted a monkey as a pet. I went to a rescue centre filled with abandoned primates, I got to hold a couple of the more docile monkeys and even they bit, scratched, pulled etc. I don't love them quite as much as I used to! They're far better to enjoy in documentaries than they are in real life.
Just because marmosets are smaller it doesn't mean they'll be any less aggressive. If you've ever experienced a bite from a gerbil or a bird you'll know just how much it can hurt and bleed. Marmosets will be no different.0 -
surely the phrase "kept on a chain" is enough to tell you this can't be a good idea

please don't do it

It would be the 'wearing a nappy' bit that worries me - a squiggling wriggling baby is bad enough when it comes to nappy changing time - just imagine the chaos when that baby is as strong and agile and has a 5th limb! Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

I wouldn't even know which local vets would take a monkey, idk why Simon above doesn't, but even if they do, how much experience are they gonna have with them unless they see Zoo animals? I bet most Vets don't routinely deal with Monkeys & i'd want any 'pet' of mine to be with a vet that is experienced with it's type (And local!)
I dunno if they can be Insured but I bet treatment wouldn't be cheap! I really dunno what's wrong with a Dog?!0
