08080011101 I keep getting calls from this number, it seems this is vodafone, but they want my account details and then they will offer me some extras on my package, no idea what, as they wont tell me until I confirm my details.

Is this really vodafone and what are they likely to be offering/selling?

Spirit is probably best to advise you but call 191 and ask them.

It's probably not Vodafone but a dealer trying to get you to shift conttracts. Ask them to tell you something about your account, and they probably will not be able to.

I tend to store them in my phone with a ring tone set to silent so they don't bother me further

    Hi photome,

It does look like one of their numbers. Even I kept getting them until I told them to xxxx off! There are a couple of similar numbers they have 08080 000133 - which is the one that kept ringing me. The last time they rang I said 'don't you know who I am' and then he fluffed and said he couldn't access my account details anyway!

They have this new system called Crystal which allows them to identify people who they think might have recently left or who are thinking of leaving them. so yes, it is a marketing thing. I told them they were flipping annoying me so goodness knows what other people think. They didn't ask me for my DOB or postcode and I wouldn't have given it anyway and would advise anyone else not to divulge this over the phone either.

15 is OTT isn't it. they called me every day for a week, I should keep quiet otherwise they might start again. I would have a bit of fun with them and string them along a bit and then say, 'well, you are calling me on my mobile number so you should be able to see who I am' tee hee.

You could say something like ' I know you have this all-singing-all-dancing Crystal system but it can't be that good if you can't see that you lot have called me umpteen times already'.

    Hi Guys

I understand what you mean, the amount of calls you have received does seem excessive.

Don't worry the call from that number is from Vodafone. This is a courtesy call to see if you are happy with your account and offer additional products and services that you may not have been aware of.

If you would like to unsubscribe from marketing follow the instructions here. :)

    I'm glad I could help.

  • Yep is definitely is Vodafone, I got a call from them yesterday on this number.

  • Hi, I know what you mean. I've had yet another call from them this morning. What is worrying is that they seem to know my make of mobile and my number (to call me in the first place) but even got my name wrong although this didn't stop the apparent hard-sell.

I don't seem able to stop them and the only thing I can suggest is talk to your local media. Your paper or radio station may be interested in covering it and at least, it would warn other people. Suffice to say, I will be voting with my feet and changing mobile provider when my contract ends in a couple of months. These people are just totally irritating pests!!
  • There are rules about telephone harassment, i believe more than 3 calls in a month is maximum, if you have requested they leave you alone.

    Re: Harassment by telephone

    ACCOUNT NUMBER: XXXXXXX

    Dear Sirs

I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing.

I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls. (Delete if necessary)

I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.

I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.

Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded. (**Even if you don‘t yet have recording equipment!!**)

    Yours faithfully,

  • I was receiving calls from this number. Usually 1 a day for a few weeks. In the end i answered and when they requested details I refused and just said no thankyou I am happy with my contract. I did not even give them the 'security questions to confirm who you are'. Just no, I'm happy, thank you, goodbye. Haven't had any calls sincw so fingers crossed. I did some research into the number and there are so many people saying its dodgy & others saying its Vodafone. People have been told both things by Vodafone too so who knows. You can never be too careful though.
