I kinda think it helps that we are both women though!
Makes you wonder how two men cope though doesn't it? :rotfl:

    Ahhh, my OH is ok.

Have to send him with a list and just accept that him doing the shopping means that we have "extras" that I wouldn't have bought!

Mind you, if he knows there is cake in the house he doesn't usually bother! Have been saving up old nanas in the freezer as he is partial to a bit of banana cake, bless him.

But he did cook dinner yesterday because I went out to a pilates class (oooh get me!) and we had agreed jackets and sausages and he asked what veg I wanted so I just said "surprise me!" and left him to it.

    :D

  • I must say I'm proud of my bf for this. He has soul custody of his teenage daughter and buys these for her from the supermarket. I'm very proud of him in that way.

Hey - Mr TM is even embarrassed to be seen shopping with me if I 'need women's things'. We were on holiday once and I had to pop into the local shop for 'something' AS soon as he knew what it was, he ran out stating he wasn't going to be around when 'they' were bought! Maybe I ought to have asked him if I needed 'wings' or not :rotfl:

I remember sending my OH for breast pads, paper pants and those giant maternity pads when I ended up being in hospital longer than expected. He did it and when he came back was very proud that he'd managed to get some on BOGOF :rotfl:

  • My OH is good at remembering things that we need and finding bargains, but he's veyr bad at adding extra munchies. He comes back and says "look I got you a treat!" when I'm *dieting!*
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!

OH is quite good at shopping. However, if it's not on the list then it's not going in the trolley - which is fine until it comes to bread for sandwiches and he knows we don't have any in the house/freezer!

Then again, he's a dab hand at cleaning and ironing, so I suppose I shouldn't complain about ANYTHING!

Does anyone do that thing where you look in other people's trolleys or at the checkout and think... whoa what are they buying!!??

Because I was thinking the other day that if someone was to look at my trolley they would probably think I eat very strangely..

I buy my veggies at the Farmers market, and often meat at the butchers and bread from the bakers! Am never going back to that supermarket fluff they pretend is bread!

I like bread that is going stale after 3-4 days and makes great toast/toasted sarnies etc etc!!

  • My OH is terrible. He hates supermarkets so will do his best to get out ASAP. The result? Middle shelf shopping and a huge bill. I do it all now - I tend to shop around more as well.

I do sneak a peek TBH, last week I actually laughed out loud - VERY EMBARASSING!!! The lady in front of me obviously had no idea how to shop sensibly/healthily, as she was loading her things onto the converyor belt thingy I saw her put on 4 jars of v.expensive Lloyd Grossman sauce and then 2 bags of tesco value mince-WHAT?!?!?

Also LOVE watching students food shopping, trolleys with 10 loaves of bread, 10 tins of beans, cheap booze and chocolate. A few days before xmas I went to tescos with a friend at 10.30pm, we didnt get out till gone 2am-MADNESS. Anyway, I saw 3 girls out shopping, one was in her dressing gown and slippers. I swear they had at least £20 of choc in the trolley and nothing else- munchies me thinks?????
