How good are your OH's at food shopping?

Pants, pants and more pants................my dh is USELESS at shopping.
Thats prob not fair TBH, he does try. He'll follow the list but whereas I know insticntively whats in the cupboards, he has no idea at all. If I see something I've forgotten I'll know to pick it up and put it in,he'll bypass not knowing its needed.
He also sticks to the list anally!!!! If I have put 1xsomething but its on BOGOF or other offer, he still onlypicks up one as thats what I said I wanted - GRRRRR.
Anything he might manage to save is squandered in the same trip by getting cakes or crisps or some little treat that he 'deserves' for doing the shopping. He also panders to the kids andputs in pretty much anything they ask for as her doesnt want the embarrassment of shopping with them having tantrums cause hes said no!
Needless to say, since I've discovered OS,he's not been shopping-LOL!WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -

Gers - I am still laughing about your OH!! Although saying that, at least he uses the correct term for tampons, mine calls them mice!!!! He would also rather use pliers to pull his eyelashes out then actually buy them for me!!!
He is now banned from coming with me and I buy my own necessitiesI think it's quite fair.. he goes to B&Q without me cos I don't recognise most things in there.

Before my OH was terrible - if I had to send him to the shops you had to write a list (preferable in order of how the store was laid out) and the size of item you wanted (the number of calls I had what size this how many of that)
Now he is not so bad.....when we go for our big shop I still send him to read the mags first then he will catch up...he knows we have a list to stick to and will even look for yellow stickered bargains.......he also has willingly stopped buying all branded product in favour of SP or own brand - he has admitted that there is no diff in taste
I would be able to send him to the shops himself no problem

I wander off with the trolley to pick up the things we need, hubby is left to struggle with things he wants  I've actually thought about taking my driving test just so I can go to Asda on my own but that works out more expensive than him buying 'extras' lol. Our friend works at Walls, hubby went to the staff shop with him the other day with £20. He got loads of bargains but it was all potato wafffles, lollies and ice-creams. He bought me some fancy body lotion too but even at the reduced price it was dearer than my usual one
The only thing he's good at buying is tampons, because he automatically buys chocolate too :rotfl:Bulletproof0 -
My husband is brilliant at shopping and puts me to shame. When I was expecting our third child I was quite ill and he took over the shopping, now I work weekends (our normal shopping time) so he still does it.
Last weekend I had some free time in the afternoon and offered to go with him.....he said never again.....apparently when I come it costs twice as much!

Well hats off to my DH, he's great at shopping, he can even do it without a list. He knows the regular things we buy and always manages to spend less than me.
And no, you can't borrow him....mine all mine!!!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Mine doesn't do shopping, although he will pop out and get me the odd item that I've run out of but I would never trust him with a full shop.
He will buy tampons though but I must get him better trained as he doesn't bring back chocolateOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

Mine is very good with most things - can cook and clean but it really annoys me when I ask him to get something for tea and he says 'well what do you want' and won't just make a decision himself. There is a fairly standard list of stuff that we are likely to eat so it isn't too difficult to decide! Or he won't decide but everything I suggest is met with 'oh I don't really fancy that' - AARGH!Debt on 31/01/2006 = £6345.14

My husband is very bad at shopping,I try to leave him at home and go by myself but sometimes he wants to come with me,after about five minutes of him helping me  I have had enough so I head for the lager isle and then when he is not looking I sneak off and carry on with the shopping.About half an hour later he has decided what lager he wants and we then head for the check out.0

Mine is excellent at any kind of shopping, which is a real bonus. The only trouble is that he doesn't drive so it's up to me to get the weekly shop on the way home from work. He hasn't got a sweet tooth so isn't tempted by any sort of goodies - the downside being he never thinks to buy me any treats :rolleyes:0
