  • I've made a complaint about this, asking for a refund. I'll let you know how I get on.

Just pay the 20p/month it will cost you. It is not worth discussing.

Where do you get 20p from? I'm being charged about £5 a quarter.

Bt privacy (caller display) use to be free until they bought in that rule of making calls.

BT told me to write in a diary each month to ring speaking clock etc. a couple of times to avoid the charge.

Think charge applies to 1571 too.

I am with Tiscali now and pay 49p pm for Caller Display.

It costs to ring the speaking clock proper. Just ring a couple of 01/02/03 or 0845/0870 numbers out of your inclusive minutes each month and it want cost anything.

When BT Privacy was introduced they said it was for people who made calls through BT, the thing was they did not enforce it for a while.

I got it free for a while, then when they started charging for it cancelled it. I've now moved back to BT, so all my calls now go through them - so I've opted back into it. Getting caller display was one of the reasons I decided to move back.

I got an email today saying they will refund the charge this quarter :D So it's worth complaining if you get caught out the first bill you have where they enforce this rule.
