I'm sorry if this sounds thick but I pay for bt option 3 so all my local calls are free all day every day, would i have to make a chargeable call to be elligable? And also if you dont make a qualifying call in a month is there then a charge for the service??

You just need to make 2 included calls (ie as long as you make 2 calls a month you will be fine)

We are on option 3 (well anytime plan as it is now called) and have privacy for the free caller display

I have BT option 1 (free evening and weekend calls). Do these free calls definately count, think I have read somewhere that they dont.

Yes they count they are inclusive calls and as long as you make 2 chargeable or inclusive calls a month your ok.

You have to make 2 chargeable or inclusive calls so you would qualify.
If you dont make 2 qualifying calls for some reason they would normally raise a charge.
