Hi
i am getting £60.50 contribution based JSA and am thinking of getting a 10 hour a week job @ £7.50 an hour, have been told that this will not affect my benefit.
But what about tax? Will not start job until after start of new tax year.
Thanks

If you do that you won't be entitled to JSA.0

The job will affect your benefit, in fact it will wipe out the JSA altogether.
Bunny beat me too it! Same time but earlier in the alphabet?0 -
If it's conts based JSA then earnings won't affect it so the info OP has had is correct.
Not sure about the tax position but I'd have thought your earning s would be taxed as per normal. You'll probably end up paying emergency tax until they get it sorted. This is just my thought rather than fact though!0 -

The earnings would be higher than his applicable amount, assuming he is single, so I thought therefore he would not be paid JSA.0 -

I dont understand-why would you claim JSA and have a job that will pay you £75 a week ?... If indeed you take this job-you will no longer be a "job seeker"--you will be employed. And on more money than the JSA gives you.
Also-you cannot earn £75 per week and still be entitled to full JSA. Not unless you are working and not declaring it-and commiting fraud.Having a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona0 -
JSA C / IB is taxable unless you are on a training scheme.
Earnings are taken into account (pound for pound off JSA C / IB ) less any disregard.0 -
I was under the impression that earnings for work under 16 hours did not affect conts based JSA?0

.........but I've just looked further into it and I was wrong.
Sorry folks:o0 -
When i went to sign on I was told I could work up to 15 hours and 59 mins each month and still claim JSA.
The £75 a week would be 10 hours a week @£7.50 an hour, I would still be looking for work the rest of the time as I need more hours. Chap at job center said aslong as I was looking for work when not working and prepared to give up less hours job I would be ok
Will check it out when I sign on again0 -
why do do the job for 37 hours and come off benefits ?If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0
