On the topic of raised beds, can anyone tell me the recommended procedure for laying one on top of an existing lawn? I think I read somewhere that you are not supposed to lay one on a recently lawned area for several reasons, but was wondering if it would be okay, if I laid a mulch sheet / weed control fabric first?

rather than the fabric i think it would be better to put a layer of brown cardboard down and then put soil on top

that way the cardboard will break down gradually and the deeper roots of some veg can eventually go down into the soil through the broken down cardboard....

I don't think it would be very easy for the roots to go through the fabric?

anyway i did the cardboard and had no problems

    Has anyone received theirs yet?

Just checked my bank account and the cheque was cashed 2 days ago so hopefully it is on its way.

Decking!!! Brilliant, I have been trying to work out what wood to use and couldn't find "pressure treated" anywhere - completely ignored the decking! :rotfl:
