Was it the toothed type of copper tape? I have heard this works better.

Do B&Q have a timber cutting service and if so does anyone know how much they charge please?

We don't have the tools to cut timber ie bench and vice etc and can't justify buying them just to cut 4 pieces of timber.

OH used these and has more to add our extra beds this year. He didn't use a vice or a bench. Just marked the half way point with a line and cut it with a handsaw on the lawn (with DS and I holding the ends and DD1 jumping over it back and forth ;)). Mind you OH is quite handy.
The guy next door is a carpenter and can't stand it when OH is doing jobs and has to come out to watch, sometimes ends up helping lol. Can't help himself loves his work and is a perfectionist.

    hi

the green raised beds are link-a-bord

    http://www.linkabord.co.uk/shop/products.asp?cid=6

i have loads of them as they are so quick and easy to make up and the company is local to me..

I grow root veg in one of them, you just need to stack two on top of each other to make a deeper section.

You can also buy a canopy support to go over the top to cover with fleece, netting, or polythene for protection of the crops.

I am just about to order more for an extra bit of garden. I keep something growing all year round in the one i have with the canopy.

you can buy more and just link them al-together or have them as separate beds

So we got a good deal at £14.95 delivered inc the seeds and other items.

Thanks for the info as I may order some more from this firm if I am happy with the one that I ordered via the Telegraph.

    hi

yes, you have a good deal for one bed plus seeds and delivery.

Most of the online garden companies sell linkabord BUT unless there is a special offer on it is usually cheaper to buy from linkabord themselves.

I am looking for another set like this:

    http://www.linkabord.co.uk/shop/product_details.asp?pid=37

but can't find any other deals on linka bord other than the telegraph one you got.

i do a version of square foot gardening in mine too - but often just divide each bed into 4 squares
