Children's Shoes Cost A Fortune! Where Do You Buy Yours?

I get our child's shoes from http://www.sportsdirect.com/ or we go into the shop and look around. Good Luck

DS2 is from clarks as he has splints in his shoes and needs a very good fit. Our local store is very inderstanding and I've never had any problems (they even reaplce them for me if he can't settle into them within 1 week which is handy!). Tried startrite once and NEVER again, wrong fit and even though I returned them that day (not worn outside) they refused to change them, returned a few days later with a letter from his physio saying the same but still no. Went to trading standards eventually).
DS2 gets new shoes about every 2-3 months and only ever has one pair. Usually about £35 as it's boots he needs.
DS1 was clarks up till he was 5 really. Though he usually gets his school shoes from there as they do seem to last longer. Trainers he preferes sketchers so it's britanno.
Because I know a little bit about biomechanics (podiatry) after having to learn about it with DS2, I do know that though shoes seem expensive, properly fitting shoes are a must have for children and so don't mind spending more on them. Badly fitting shoes can mess their feet up easily and to me it's not worth the risk. And children shouldn't wear shoes in the house, their feet need free time every day when they walk about to help develop balance and this makes the shoes last a wee bit longer.0 -
My daughter has had startrite shoes for nearly a year now, as the clarkes shoes tended to be velcro and she would just play with this, so startrite have a nice selection of buckle shoes. A few times, I have looked at our local clarkes factory shoe which has half price shoes and may go there in the summer for trainers. I bought wellies (dora) which she loves in Brandoes and slippers from shoe fayre.MFIT T2 Challenge - No 46

Clarkes for us - again, one pair for school and another pair at home. Trainers and Sandles in the summer, boots in the wonter (got some fab Emu's for £26 on Amazon.
Got DS Clarkes shoes from eBay last time, saved about £10 but the shoes had been worn just once to a wedding.
I really cannot fault Clarkes shoes, I've tried cheaper shoes but they are pants and wear out quickly - although you can find some good brands from TK Maxx occassionally. It is a pain when you have got 2 kids to save for and I never manage to get the sale when it starts.0 -
Clarks for us as well and my children also have just two pairs of shoes at a time - trainers and school shoes usually as none of them have liked sandals.
The girls have had the odd pair of boots but they prefer trainers.
They had wellies too though of course, and school pumps for PE.
I have bought trainers elsewhere but tbh I usually just get Clarks trainers, school pumps and school shoes at the same time; sometimes wellies too.
I think some things are worth paying for and I've always found Clarks brilliant if something isn't right when we get home. I haven't taken many pairs back but when I have, they've always replaced them.
Once I went to buy dd2 a new pair, and just remarked she'd only had the others for 5 weeks (she was about 2 at the time and had had a growth spurt) and they replaced them for free! I didn't ask, or expect that; I was just making conversation. In true mse style, I didn't turn them down though, of course!

I LOVE Clarks & their shoes too

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

Hi OP. I agree kids shoes cost a fortune, but it is the one thing I don't scrimp on (I tend to go to Clarks or Russell and Bromley) I would really recommend ECCO shoes as they are very comfortable and sturdy. However, you've been given some good links to try out above, so hopefully you'll be able to find some. I will also be giving some of them a try myself!0
