Jay Jay - are you having any actual problems using your PC now? You should be OK now.

The fact that I ask you to remove a file but it isn't there doesn't worry me. I always say "delete (such and such) file IF FOUND". I have used other things that will remove most of the bad struff along the way so chances are it won't be in a new log.

Again, don't worry if Cleanup didn't work. It should have done but, if it didn't cause any problems, then all should be well.

As an alternative you can use Ccleaner here .......

    http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp.

It will remove the temporary stuff and other similar items your PC collects when browsing and in normal use.

Yes, you should now return all hidden files to "hidden" status again.

For extra help to keep your computer safe in the future you can read these handy little guides .....

As I say you should be all clear now but, if not, post back again.

Jay-Jay, Ruby has replied to your log. http://www.hijackthis-forum.de/showthread.php?p=71836#post71836

This is alittle more advanced than the pchelpman can offer.
I am not going to get into big debates in public about how I approach fixing a log. What I will say, in this case, is this.

Different analysts have different approaches. Some take a more light handed approach (like me) and others a more heavy handed one using tools and downloads that don't appear to be necessary from the log but, equally, won't do any harm either. Sometimes just a waste of time.

The log analysed by Ruby had some of the elements I was going to comment on BUT, as Jay Jay changed the log, any analysis was pointless until a new log was available. Hence my remarks in post number 10.

I'm not sure what prompted your comment "more advanced" but I'm assuming you mean Ruby used more tools etc. Appearances aren't everything.

Not at all pchelpman. Ruby is more of an expert than anyone on here with regards to hijackthis.

    Hence 'little more advanced'

I think you are concentrating on the winfixer issue, but a hijackthis log can tell you so much more. If you have hijackthis running you might aswel get rid of ALL the bogus entries not just one.

Is there a way of removing it but keeping some emails that could still be read in either version of Outlook?

Don't mean to "hijackthis" thread (couldn't resist that!) sorry.
