Spot on, Intel. It's not Limewire itself that's bad ... it's the potential bad stuff downloading on to the PC when using Limewire.intel wrote:Hi
Umm isnt the new limewire free of rubbish (as I think it is) but its mainly
what you download should be virus checked before using.... I agree with
incredimail what a load of crap that is, it mistifies me why anybody wants
this on thier PC as its such a clunky bit of rubbish...
Similar comments apply for all P2P. Even Kazza Lite which is supposed to be a "reverse engineered" version of the full program meaning malware is avoided. Believe that and you'll believe anything.0

ahem...I use Incredimail only because a friend sent me a voucher for the Premium over a year ago but you're right it is bloated and a bit slow at times and I'd like to get rid of it completely and just use Outlook Express or Outlook 2003. only because a friend sent me a voucher for the Premium over a year ago but you're right it is bloated and a bit slow at times and I'd like to get rid of it completely and just use Outlook Express or Outlook 2003.
Is there a way of removing it but keeping some emails that could still be read in either version of Outlook?
Don't mean to "hijackthis" thread (couldn't resist that!) sorry. 0 0

 sorry
I had the Incredimail thing ages ago but thought I'd got rid of it. I've also told husband about the problems with Limewire, he's still wants to use it () so he needs to learn how to virus check the stuff he's downloading. It can go though if it's part of the problem.
 new log....

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the following instructions.
You are running HijackThis from a temporary location. You must move the folder to a permanent place on your hard drive such as C:\HJT. This will ensure that any backups made are not lost.
Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option.
 Download CleanUp! here….. http://www.cleanup.stevengould.org/ .......
*WARNING* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups. If you have a 64 bit Operating System [very doubtful in your case] do NOT run Cleanup and let me know as we will use another utility
Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.
Reboot your system in Safe Mode (by repeatedly tapping the F8 key until the menu appears).
Open HijackThis and click on Scan. Check the following entries (make sure you do not miss any):
 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cus...//www.yahoo.com
 O2 - BHO: (no name) - !!549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
 O4 - Global Startup: Digimax Viewer 2.1.lnk = ?

Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers, before clicking “Fix checked”.
Reboot to normal mode and see how your computer is working now.
Let us know and give us a brief description of any lingering issues.0

Done it (sorry I took so long, was cooking a roast dinner at the same time (sorry I took so long, was cooking a roast dinner at the same time ) )
Had a couple of problems, first one was that after running CleanUp! I got a pop up saying that somethings were deleted that I needed and it asked me to put my Windows XP disk in (which I did) and that was that
Next, in the hijackthis log the following wasn't there anymore...pchelpman wrote:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cus...//www.yahoo.com I looked and looked and looked but it definately wasn't there. I looked and looked and looked but it definately wasn't there.
Apart from that everything went well, so can I presume that my puter's clean now? and do I need to uncheck the 'Hide protected operating system files etc again?
Phew.... I'm blimmin worn out now Just run, run and keep on running!0 Just run, run and keep on running!0

We can help analyse logs at this site ... there is no need to send someone to another site at this stage.
Jay-Jay, Ruby has replied to your log. http://www.hijackthis-forum.de/showthread.php?p=71836#post71836
This is alittle more advanced than the pchelpman can offer.0
