Freeeeeeeeeezzzing here, but rather gorgeous too with all this orange sunlight hitting the hill that makes me squint. AND it's not raining - wow.
I have scaly leg mite back! Well the chickens do. I thought I'd got a grip on it but sadly no. Calls for something a tad stronger I feel - scabie stuff, try asking for that in Ullapool & see folks jumping away from you - my reputation in tatters....what with all that staggering about too............0 -
Mites
Sometimes smothering the mites works by using something like Vaseline (don't get it into feathers, though, & make sure it's really well worked into the scales. The biggest problem is getting rid of it from the housing. You really have to keep treating the coop to make sure that not only all the mites but all their eggs have been killed.
If you have any alternative housing it makes life a bit easier.
It always reminds me of treating schoolkids' nits :rotfl:0 -

I wanted a walk in larder too. Its less the having things in one place, more that there is. Space for big sacks of flour and bulk purchases. Ours is writen out of the plans though to make room for the fire place in the kitchen. The kitchen should still be pretty good though, and i'll have a boot room/utility which i might also be able to use as a pantry. Not as good as a larder, but something!0

I vote for a laundry room, somewhere I can pile stuff and close the door :rotfl:
Also worthwhile thinking of what living spaces you will want for examples study, craft space, music room, library (ok that is my wish list) and building in permission for any buildings that you may consider in the future. Storage is a huge issue so make sure you have cupboards and attic/cellar spaces for storage. Even if you are are a minimalist, when you come to sell people love storage.
Oh I also agree with the larder, we had one in our old place and I adored it. Really miss it here, even though we have tonnes of kitchen cupboard space.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
We are having a North facing larder & a utility for washer/freezer etc0

By the time you've taken into account all our ideas, rozee, you may have such an enormous place that you'll be having to buy next door, too! :rotfl:0
