Dave what sort of fence do you have - you seem to have constant troubles.
My young cross-breds occasionally do lose horn buds pulling their heads back out after stretching for that greener grass on the other side.

and whatever they put in before me here to protect the orchard, but think it's the same, just ropey.
We had none of this last year, but this year it's every other day or two. These sheep are the young of last year's too.
OTOH, not one on its back yet, so that's different as well.

aggie, your snow is coming very determinedly downwards....I'm surprised its laying so well because it looks wet and heavy! pretty isn't it? Just grim grey here today. Will move horses onto the penultimate fresh grass this weekend..0

Maggie that's some snow - lovely video thanks for that.
Glad the tooth stuff is over with Alfie.
Dave - sheep eh?
Just given the sheeps their feed & chucked them some brocoli plants - tried to eat some of it last night with the roast - yurk - the stems are like wood...........Sheeps love it though.
Walked down to the shore. Cold but refreshing.0 -
:TLovely video Maggie, but I'm quite happy to see snow vicariously like that for now. Good news about the tooth too, alfie.
Christmas tree day today. We had one ready to go, so I thought it would be a ten minute job. Hmmmm....
For some reason, my usual combination of large rocks followed by mixed grit would not lock together properly in the bucket, so the blooming tree kept rocking. But, I had some wedges Pete produced while fencing, so I hammered three of those in around the sides. Perfect!
Then DW says, "I think we need a wedge over on this side too, dear," so I stupidly acquiesce, and "Crrkk!" split the bucket!:mad:
Suddenly, I have a reason to thank the sheep. They'd just finished-up their first lick, and I'd collected the large bucket it came in. Hoorah!Five minutes later, tree bucket was inside lick bucket and we were all :j:beer: again.
Thank you sheep! :dance:0 -
Yep definitely snowing with you, maggie brrrrrrr. Nice videos, though :T
Glad the tooth is fixed, alfie. All ready for the crunchy Chrimble nibbles.
Dartmoor is much bleaker than Exmoor which is more rolling & has more trees & hedging but, as with all the moors of the SW, the Atlantic dictates the weather
Strange about the sheep fencing, Dave. Seems silly to ask but is it strained good & tight? We only really had problems if the animals tried to push under the wire or it became loose & they could step through it. They'd get in a right pickle then.
The wind is whooshing around again tonight & the leats are struggling to contain the water.
However, there's a vicious rumour that we may see temperatures in double figures again next week,0 -
John noticed fox nosing under one of the bird feeders, but by the time I got to kitchen and switched on camera only got short video of him running up the right hand side of the garden. Maybe I'll be luckier tomorrow - intend to keep camera on tripod by the bifolds so it's ready.0

The main fences are strained very tight and we've had fewer problems with those, but then most of the goodies the sheep want to get at are behind the old wire.
I will have all new stuff by this time next year.0 -

they love cat/dog food or fish ! [if you want to keep it occupied for a film/pic ]
True. We've got films of a couple of cubs coming into our porch to raid the cat dish
We've also got photos of a hedgehog doing the same thing. What noisy eaters? We always knew when we had a hoggie visitation because we could hear them from the next room. It was like someone rattling a biscuit tin. :rotfl:0
