  • My mother won't either. I'm not particularly superstitious. Thereis only one boy here, too young to have full tail yet, and as he's not mine I'd feel a bit cheeky when he did. When I get mine I'd happly sell them though.

Our local is famous for peacocks. Usually they're far enough away to be out of earshot but a few years ago they had multiplied in number & the young males were getting chucked out by the alpha male. We ended up with one roosting on our roof ridge ..... but not for long. It got rugby tackled, put in a tea chest & returned to its' owners :rotfl:
You can't begin to imagine how many of the hotel visitors used to complain about the peacocks landing on their balconies & watching them through their bathroom windows - pervy peacocks :rotfl:
ATM it looking bit more like dh will be taking a longer overseas contract though, so thinking maybe I won;t get any more animals because its already so hard to go away.

No, going away & animals don't mix - particularly when you have a menagerie of different ones.
Farmers tend to be busy with their own stock & work, anyway. We didn't take a holiday for nearly 20 years. :(

but...LIR are you going to be going away too ???? :(

Alfie, not in the short /medium term.

TBH I just don't know longer term.

We kinda wish we hadn' bought ATM because opportunities are abounding in climates that are meant to be worse, whereas there is a dearth of stuff in DH's area in the City...he has had an offer for ''spring'' but its too vague to count on atm....and more bad economic news could negate that I think. I've been trying to avoid thinking bout it, and won't know anything until next year now anyway. Things are really not nice for him where he is, and their is a LOT of office politics....the people on dh's side are mainly in NYC. There might be an opportunity in Europe...but being paid in Euros now doesn't look to promising for our mortgage!

I wouldn't want to be away from OH that much I don't think I could do that.

Mind you we're skint, but still I don't think I would regard that as living in the now, in the moment.

I don't really mnd no holidays, I don't travel that well since i ot ill...its such a drama ...but not seeing dh bar a fortnight a year wouldn't really work either. :(

My parents travelled around the world with pets when I was a kid. It was ok in the main, but they mainly had cats, a dog. coming back to uk is a different matter with the quarantine. It was too much for one o the cats when I was little, and I'm pretty sure our dogs would be ok, but the cats would struggle.....they have ONCE stayed in a cattery for two nights and were horrified at the indignity. The cats are my babies :o. If we - me and the cats- went it would be for their life times..because I don't want to put them through immigration. They'd stay here with soeone in the house ok, maybe with one of my parents, if I go here ever he is a bit. In europe we can get pet passports again, thats fine, the cats like that, and dog dog would too. In fact, every one apart from the birds could. I don't think it would be hard to find homes for the birds..only two cockerals, even if I'd find it devastating. :(

both set of parents did it too, so I suppose we are programmed to accept it, if not choose it.

Then I think you are very wise not to take on anything else animal-wise, LIR, until you know for sure what's happening.

Incidentally, I am watching Gennaro Contaldo dressed as a turkey & making semifreddo. :rotfl: Shame that the link is one of those that you have to sit through 4 ads or I'd put it on here.

Lir, always difficult coping with work based separation. I did it for far too long, just managed to keep sanity and eventually see sense. But life needs to go on, and putting everything on hold can be equally damaging. I've done that too and it's ultimately self defeating.

Alfie, courier for Italy shipment never came . Rebooked tomorrow, so another day waiting. Just hope that City Link deliver to you tomorrow, let me know please!

Anyhow, last major night on Ebay and it was leavened by an old print selling for 10x expectation. How much do I have to learn??? LOTS!!
