CTC - barstewards! What else can I say??? Sorry about the cat and the chicks... Some people have no morals at all.
Chin up love! Bound to be time for something good to happen.

Davesnave - Hey there devonian!! It's been bl0@dy windy here, and in the eight years I;ve lived here I've never seen so much water around! I live at the top of the hill with my garden sloping away from the house and even the grass by the back door is soaking wet and spongy! Not been on here much as theres not a lot going on here apart from the extension, which is coming along albeit slowly (DH works between 50 - 60 hrs a week and is working on the extension too).
Like you say even if I was able to sort out the beds etc (need to get the digger in again before that plan can be put into action) the weather certainly is making it very difficult. ROLL ON SUMMER!!! My neighbour, local born and raised and from a farming family, although from a nearby village reckons its going to be a good summer next year something to do with some local farming lore that I can't quite remember! I did say I will hold him to it! I hope so because my daughter (soon to be three) has never seen a good summer.

Anyone on here been following the Bank charges saga.... It reads more like an episode of a soap each and every day! He said, she said, etc etc!
I was expecting about £6k back if they okay'd the lot! That would have been put away as my monsoon money..... Although I think we are there already! Still I have learnt my lesson....no more charges for me!!

Hope everyone else is well and not letting the weather get them too down.... It won;t be long 'til spring :)

CTC so sorry to hear about your chickens and your cat ... what an awful time you've been happening hun ... really hope things start to get better.

Choille - I know what you mean about the weather! It's blooming awful. They keep issuing severe weather warnings in the morning just after i cross the bridge ... never before lol. The only good thing is once I'm over the bridge its not too bad lol, just the blooming wind!

Last night the wind was that bad that my whirlygig was ejected from its space and landed on the decking upside down! Mind you, the council neglected to cement the blooming thing in so its their own fault lol. Hubby has an appointment on monday morning to going to go with him as my college lecture for tomorrow has been cancelled so i can go to work instead (hows that for dedication!!!)

Have just made my choices for next semester so fingers crossed the boss doesnt object to me having thursdays off for college ... have tried to get the two classes that are on the same day so its a minimum of disruption to the office and i can still work as i have a 2 hour break between classes so I can do some emailing in the middle part of the day!

Hope you are all well ... take care ... even though i'm not posting as much due to work ... i am still coming on and reading and thanking you all ... you all certainly brighten up my days! xxx

CTC, what a horrible thing to happen! You try to think the best of people and then...

Choille, I'd forgotten you were in temporary accommodation overwinter, hope the weather settles soon.

On a grace note, the greater spotted woodpeckers have re-found our nutfeeder. Its a laugh seeing them trying to hide behind fence posts and other uprights while they peek out to make sure no one is watching them. One of the released pheasants there as well this morning, maybe the guns wont get him.

Saw some sun today and lots of rainbows... kind of cheering :)

I can;t remember the last time I saw so many rainbows.... thats about the only good thing about the weather. They are everywhere you look here for the last week or so. My DD is delighted everytime she see's them as fairies live in rainbows, apparantly! Oh then theres the science lessons with a curious 5 year old boy!!

• CTC, so sorry to hear about your chicken thieves, there are some really horrible people out there. People who deliberately steal your animals, and the dog owners who think it's OK to let their dogs run loose and maul or kill other people's pets or livestock, I've experienced both of those and I'm not sure which is worse  And as if that isn't bad enough, if you go to the police about something like that they pretty much laugh it off, that just makes it worse :mad:
• thank you for your concern.... well they havent been found, or no one has heard anything... or seen any being sold at auction...

so i am just hoping that who ever ends up with them, will look after them properly...

i am having a run of bad luck lately, last week there was a huge thunder storm, felt like it was right above the house... it blew our modem, so had to make do with one of htose pay as you go dongley things...lol... ttok 20 minutes just to get the pages up.....lol... so i was sooooooooooooooo pleased when our replacement modem turned up...

not much to report really.

hope everyone is ok and the weather isnt putting too much of the dampers on the old gardening front...

A pity you've drawn a blank there CTC, but I thought that might be the case, as you'd soon tell us if there were any developments. I didn't know about your modem, of course. Well, if things happen in threes, there's your third and last thing, hopefully!

Not much to report here, as the weather is still putting paid to most outdoor activities. I have drained-down all the external pipe runs and done one round trip to our old garden to collect more building materials, but that's about it. Hope to get more garlic in on Sunday though.;)
