Alfie, listen to our Rhiwfield, get yourself checked out PLEASE.....will read yuor pm after doing my post..

Rhiwfield..... glad the carboots and ebay are paying off, I really should get myself back into a routine with ebay...what i am worried about now is that they are more or less doing free listing weekends every month now, and i am afraid that things are not selling for good money anymore....but then on saying that any money for something that has been hanging round and cluttering up the house must be good...

Anyway.... i am back to reality now after yesturday's 'mooch' yes i am gutted, but it just goes to show prices are now coming back down ( a bit) and I just got to make sure now that i dont slip back
( like i have over the last year) and just try and get more extra pennies in, as maybe if i didnt fall into a comfort zone and not try as hard to earn/make extra money... i might have had a fighting chance with yesturday's farm...

Better go to work now....got to get all my paperwork ready for the accountant... vat reutrns due at the end of the month:eek: and the quarterly rent, dont you just hate it when it all falls at the same time...

    Alfie, don't put it off.....!!!!:naughty:

Ha! I'm doing the 'pretend it doesn't exist' stuff today too, while the weather is pants! :( Trouble is, it's clearing-up already! ;)

CTC, I've had plenty of experience and there really is always another one just over the horizon. Knowing roughly how you are set, family wise, it could be a year or two yet, but the opportunity will come. Just being ready for when it does is the important thing. I don't see anything pushing prices back the wrong way in your neck of the woods (or mine) in the next few years.;)

Had a rather sobering weekend after having to repack about 12 bags of junk the crows attacked at our front entrance. This was left outside for the dust cart, but at the wrong time, by relatives of some poor chap who died on Wednesday in the barn conversions. The relatives just came, emptied the place and literally threw everything small enough into cheap sacks. Looking at what was disposed of, they kept nothing, not even his wedding album or framed photos of the grandchildren.

I have put the most important papers + some of the photos etc to one side, just in case anyone else from the family shows up, but I'd think it unlikely. Everything else - he didn't have much, or much taste - went on the dustcart this morning.

So, there you go; this time last week he was pottering about down there, and now someone has made sure, double-quick, that virtually all traces of him have been erased. From the paperwork, it seems he'd had a difficult time and was far from blameless, but it's worrying that social services thought it appropriate to place him here a few weeks ago, and very sad that his family disliked him so much. He was just 2 years older than me. :(

Wow, we had some rain, even better it's overcast with no wind today, so the plants can enjoy the damp. Everything really does seem to have grown about 10% since yesterday!

Picked the first two small courgettes yesterday.

You've beaten me by at least five days, I'd reckon, but I've had a cucumber.

You shouldn't be picking cucumbers before courgettes, that's just not right :D

Thought I'd share a picture of my new gardening hat. ;)

We actually made it to the garden a couple of times over the weekend. OH has made the bed at the end of the lawn by the patio a bit wider, and has planted shallots in it. Had them in a seed tray for ages, so not sure how well they'll do, but at least they're in now! Still haven't finished potting on the lavenders though, or the lobelia.

Took a photo of the end of the garden on Saturday afternoon, and when I looked at it on screen I saw some flowers I didn't recognise in with the purple geraniums.

So on Sunday I went back to look, and they are sage flowers. I've never had sage flower for me before. They make quite an interesting clash with the geraniums!

Also have a mystery bush in the hedge. It's actually growing next door, but trails over into our garden, it's very pretty. Any idea what it is?

OH has also earthed up the Blue Danube spuds. We were very late putting them in, just hope we get some sort of crop from them!

Lots more pics on Flickr for anyone interested.

Oh, and we did miss the tree peony being fully open while we were away in London. Had a feeling we might. :( Nevermind, hopefully it'll be back next year!

It's a Philadelphus, Maggie. Don't know which one, but you could probably Google it.

Must say your garden is coming on a treat, and that soil doesn't look bad either.:)

I have finished my 'pretend it doesn't exist' stuff & I'm glad I did it now. I've found tax to reclaim that'll pay for another chicken shed.:D Remembering last time,it will take some months to get it out of Mr HMRC though. :(

Right, off to the great outside I go......action-smiley-085.gif

Both OH and I wondered about that, the leaves are right. But it doesn't seem to have any scent! Will try and get another sniff if I get to the garden tomorrow. The one we have in the yard at home smells absolutely glorious! It's just coming into flower, must go out and have a sniff later this evening. :) Must get some cuttings going from it.
