    Just one more...humour me, eh?

We were given this stand but can't afford anything to put on it yet....and will probably never agree on anything for it anyway;). Living statues rule.

    Hello

So sorry I haven't been online for a while, laptop is still broken :(. Been really stormy weather here this week and my garden has been ripped to pieces. Most of my mini fruit trees have snapped or lost branches, the raspberries are all crushed and there is debris everywhere. The giant bean wigwam I built has blown away and the beans have all vanished, I think they must have been eaten.

It is all so upsetting as all the work I have done seems to have been for nothing :(. I am off for a few days but I just can't bring myself to go out and start sorting out the mess. This year I was so keen to grow as much as I could and I have spent months getting things started and planted out and now they have all gone. Not to mention the costs that are going to be involved as I had planted out all my bean seeds and many of the others.

I think I will just plant a few things and turn my thoughts to next year. No idea how I could have prevented the damage and I guess you just have to take the knocks, at least it was just my experiment not my livelyhood.

Lovely photies LIR. Yes, drought is bad, especially when there are wild fires. I found that so scary. We do normally have quite high rainfall but it's been ridiculous for three weeks.

Rummer - so hard for you. I'm really sorry that you've had so much damage & things have been undone. It's so frustrating & saddening. Just leave things as they are for a while.

Think it's been so unpredicatable - gales are now happening even at this time of year.

Rummer, it must be heartbreaking. :( we've had a few hard years for veg.....seed washed away one year, and eaten to death the next. Last year nothing, because we had no space...but you poor, poor thing.

The fruit trees and raspberries might survive long term.....the edgar allan poe tree we tortured is bravely trying still, and even the caci, which looks dead, is green at the bottom, so I'm giving it mre time. Also, today I went to pull out the three canes of raspberry that showed no life...and one was full of life under the surface, so quickly got heeled in. If there is any thing left these things are fighters.

This year has made be realise how useful a fruit cage would be, not just or the damn birds but for a little shelter or somewhere you COULD shelter if needed.

The beans is gutting, they are such a useful crop. :( But its not all gone, do you still have lots of seed left for quick crops.....sladings etc? If not I'd be happy to share with you.

    .

I'd forgotten your fires. :(:o what a bloody gruesome spring its been allround.

The early heat was fun, but frankly, I'd prefer a ''traditional'' cycle to work to and fewer of these dramas.

Just in from moving the little hen house, where we put the lame hen ATM because she's had Metacam and no one can eat her eggs for a month.(Blooming daft idea that was!) Once she's laid, we let her out with the rest.

So sorry your enthusiasm hasn't had much reward yet, Rummer.:( Things may still come right, and meanwhile, we're all struggling. High winds seem to have become much more frequent in the last few years, so if it continues, we'll all need to look at building windbreaks into our garden planning, either natural ones or the plastic variety.

Choille, you are very naughty, doing exactly what I do in open gardens! :o The seeds I collected last autumn have had mixed success so far, but some shouldn't have germinated at all, so it's early days. Among those are a couple of hawthorns, which came from the roadside in Dorset. It might be another 18 months before the rest of them come through. :)

Went to the [STRIKE]dump[/STRIKE] recycling facility this morning to have a microwave put down, but I left with a pair of wellies and a couple of fishing rods! The wellies are the same as the comfy ones I had to scrap last year and the fishing rods......err....are telescopic and fit into my rucksack!;) I shall say no more, except they were something else I'd been looking for!

Lir, you are taking many more photos than I am now!

How many hawthorns are you after Davesnave?

I'm now also on the look out for well priced common (i.e. dark green, not variegated) holly. :)

I might try asking neighbours about cuttings and seeds. I'd share, maybe they will too. There are open gardens looming (we wanted to go to the last ones but were too busy here.)

Showers last night (hurrah) but on soil kicking later last night the soil was still parched: especially where our suffering transplated lilacs are. :( Hose on agan today I guess, despite forecast rain.

Dave, its quality that counts .....and that will never be a rival of any sort! I took a nice one of the sweetpeas and I quite like the strawberry one posted. There is also a good one of a fly on one of my white roses.

This morning's walk around sees more oak breakage. The garden needs raking really but its not going to get it. The wind has died down a little, but not enough to burn I don't thick. :(

LIR love the pic of the cat....:beer:i wonder if that is going to be a regular 'look out' post for the cat.....there is an old tree stump over by the factory where our cat sits for hours on end, watching and waiting for something to play with:eek:, and brings it in the house once she's caught it

Rummer....... what a poo....:o our weather pattern is totally erratic..and as Davesnave, maybe if this keeps on happening we will have to think about windbreaks or some sort of shelter....I had an order from a seed company that didnt turn up, so they re sent it to me, a week later the original order turned up....so i can send you some veg seeds, as i will not be using them this year.... ( plus i didnt pay for them..lol..) there's beetroot, carrots, runner beans romaine lettuce and i have some other seeds around the place too, If you would like them just pm me...

The weather was really bad last night.... its like autumn out there..really did want to spend some time in the garden, but its too bad out there... will see if it calms down a bit later, and spend some time in hte greenhouse

choille, if its bad with us, i dread to think what you are going through.. I think with weather like this i wish we could just transport ourselves somewhere nice and sunny,

Hi Piggybankshaker:wave: where abouts are you in south wales?
