p.s. LIR whats a planters punch ?? iv just had a suggestion for what it is from my son and it involves tobacco !!!!
Better...it involves RUM.:D I love rum ....I can't help it, it was a strong childhood influence.:D
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punch_%28drink%29#Rum_punchesThe recipe of Planter's Punch varies, containing some combination of rum, lemon juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, orange juice, grenadine, soda water, curaçao, Angostura bitters, and cayenne pepper.[7]
The first known print reference to Planter's Punch was in the August 8, 1908 edition of The New York Times:
Gentlemen enjoying punch in about 1765, by William HogarthPLANTER'S PUNCHThis recipe I give to thee,
Dear brother in the heat.
Take two of sour (lime let it be)
To one and a half of sweet,
Of Old Jamaica pour three strong,
And add four parts of weak.
Then mix and drink. I do no wrong —
I know whereof I speak.
Can anyone tell I'm nearing the end of my annual ''dry spell''.0 -
LIR hillarious :T that looks brilliant, must try and get accurate quantities tho ...or do i just keep trial and erroring until i either get it right or fall over !!:rotfl:0

LOL, we've tried various takes on Planter's Punch (the weird thing is we say it with an Italian accent here, because we used to drink it a lot in Italy at apperitivo joints.. so it sounds really different when I say it and tying it ''in english'' is making me giggle)
If you google you'll find lots of recipes. Its one of the rare ones where the ''official recipe'' (rum, lemon juice, grenadine and soda) isn't as good as some of the funky versions. For me it HAS t have a maraschino cherry, and I like it with pinapple juice and with some int chopped through it.
One of our new house resolutions is that in the summer (as yet to be defined) we'll have a new long drink every weekend.I think when we dreamed that up we thought we'd have some garden furniture to lounge on when hot and tiddly.:D

Hi all - just caught up again - I think!
Today turned out lovely even though we were forecast heavy snow it didn't get here - hurray!
Spent most of the afternoon lugging a dead tree up the croft & am feeling my age. Quite an escapade as it had conked over the gorge - 2nd one that's done that in the last few months. OH roped it & sawed bits off - quite dangerous really.
On 2nd day of another Orpington cockerel for tea - stir fry tonight - I'll curry the remainder & that'll do two nights.
Should of been clearing veg beds but got caught up in the tree thing. Good forecast for tomorrow so hopefully will get something done then.
Rummer - great when you hit the library spot on like that - like getting your own way in a sweetie shop - try not to gorge.
Love that veranda Alfie - sensible things - had an overhang thing once & used it to dry clothes when it was raining.0 -
Hey all, I see you've all been busy! I've had a longish and very busy day at work today and rather successful too! One manager could hardly contain her delight in my discovery of an error in another section doubling our workload with work we'd already done! No wonder our figures were running wildly high! Unfortunately, she's not my manager, but she does work closely with my manager. Yay! Wouldn't it be lovely to get a bonus based on the amount of money I saved the company? It would run into thousands!!! I reckon my discovery today has covered the cost of my salary for the year. If I could only do that every day but for myself rather than someone else! lol
My stupid neighbour parked his stupid car on the shared drive today but I managed to get to about 4 inches close to it. If it's there tomorrow night I'll try to get the gap down to 3 inches, though I don't want to knock my mirror off. His car is already missing the front bumper, I'm not sure if I can take his rear bumper off without pulling mine off too. One thing is for sure, if I hit the lamp column trying to avoid his car I WILL panic and drive straight into his - in for a penny, in for a pound hey?
Well I'm growing a couple of potatoes in a bucket and they have like spikey hair now - they look like Punks! And I can see white lines spreading out from the old potato at the top at the bottom of the spiky hair going into the soil. I think I might be becoming a gardener again. I hope I can keep these alive, unlike my attemp with the cabbage, lettuce and spring onions last year. But that wasn't really my fault! I mean, who else would get bronchitis followed by a chemical burn followed by hypothermia within about 6 weeks!! Sometimes I think I have a strange life.
CRIKEY! I was going to bed an hour ago! lol
Good night all and hope the weather is good for you all.
Poo
P.S. Not sure who mentioned it but, you don't dry the poo and pop it on the fire, the poo goes into a tank and microbes feed off it and emmit gas (methane), this is then channelled into another tank where it can be regulated and used instead of mains gas. But hey, whatever floats your boat! If you want to start drying your own poopies and sell them as fuel of the future I have a business name for you - how about "People Pyre Poo"? And how about a slogan? "Scented Pyre Logs - From You To Flue". You don't have to mention what their scent is.One of Mike's Mob, Street Found Money £1.66, Non Sealed Pot (5p,2p,1p)£6.82? Huh, missing in action again, but enjoying all the discussion here about alternative energy sources, verandahs etc. Your verandah's very enticing alfie, but at the rate you go, I wonder if you really do sit on it and contemplate! I know we'd love one, but the only time we seem to sit down outside is when I'm barbecuing.... oh, and Hen-watch, of course.
We were back in Bath again yesterday, still removing things from our old garden. This time it was the staging which had been built into the cedar greenhouse, and which took time because the screws etc hadn't moved in 23 years. Sadly, being over 12' long we had to do a bit of 'pruning' to get them into our 11' load space. We also picked up loads of old double glazing units. a compost Dalek, some heavy steel reinforcing mesh (good for growing peas & beans!) and assorted useful (?) items. By the time I'd weed killed and DW had cut back a huge buddleia, it was time to go.
The next step will be to demolish the greenhouse itself, which needs another calm day. The ends won't go into our van whole, but I think we will find it is beyond saving anyway.:( However, having cost £150 in 1988, it hardly owes us anything and some of the panels may be OK.
Congratulations, Poo, for doing so well at work yesterday. Lets hope it results in some financial recognition.....or just recognition. In the final years of my 'real' job, the boss destroyed everyone's good feelings about their work, so I know how important it is to have successes. Our greatest one was getting rid of him! :rotfl:0 -

Well, it depends what sort of system you go for. But this is definitely the easiest as far as I can see, specially if we get a hoover than can suck it back out and put it on the garden at the end. The biomass I think you dry and make bricketts for, but tbh, do I need another job in the year....poo brick making?
I love the idea of scented logs rofl:T:T. we had a misdelivery which included some mint flavoured chaff....the horses love it....maybe it retains some scent on departure...
Grey today and its been wet overnight. I left the horses rugs off as it was so mild but the geriatric found the pipe (the big pond pump was fixed yesterday) and has obviously been rolling in water  she's stif so was probably very cold overnight and her long old horse coat (think highland cow coat rather than horse) looks like its had a perm where its been wet and dried curly.0 -
Poo what fabulous news, well done you! I hope you get the recognition (and cash) you deserve!
Dave Sounds like you had a busy and productive day.
Lostrinates My horse was increadibly talented and could find mud even in a drought and was always filthy :rotfl:
Rubbish weather here again today, it is really frustrating :mad:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Well done Poo hope you get rewarded.
I once tried burning dried sheep dung from the byre - I thought I was going to choke with the acrid smell. That was in an open fire mind you. Pity the neighbours.
Lovely here again but a frost - the mountains are all glittery & look rather splendid.0
