We did the apple trees this time last year, so I think we might skip pruning on many of them this year, to see if the ones that didn't perform are tip bearers. Good job [STRIKE]we[/STRIKE] DW kept notes. :o

Did my own form of skip diving this morning, having just found out, rather late, about the Npower refunds for those overcharged in 2007. The letter had gone to our old rental place, which had, by then, been sold. Anyway, good result, so £39 is now winging its way to us. :)

That will pay for my seed order. :j

Cold here last night and on Friday night, but better on Saturday.

Unfortunately promised to help out with a job on Sunday when the ground was frost free, so the only chance to get on the plot was Saturday pm when it was still frozen, if only to about 1 inch by then. Had added lots of stuff to the Choille Day fire and got that lit again as the dusk came.

Pruned one of the espaliers last week and treated it for woolly aphid - got a little the year before last and it got away when I was on holiday last summer. So all the damaged wood cut out and burnt on the fire and meths painted all over the tree. Will have to keep an eye on it this spring and summer. Fruiting will be reduced this year but it provides more than I can eat most years.

Some flower buds on the cordons planted last year, so may allow them one or two fruits this year; last year took the flowers off. They should reach their full height this summer.

LIR - Definately best not to pick fights with Building control.

Just had an email that I've breached ebay policy by trying to list a budding knife - Well how was I to know you're not allowed to list knives. So that's me got a strike against me already.

The wind is horrid & it's rained all day - it's yuck & the caravan is rocking about like the good ship Venus. Building paper is cracking like whips on the house & it's so noisy I can't hear myself think - which is probably as well. Best not to think some days.

Beautiful Alfie. Beautiful. but scrap? No way! Dreadful.

we're trying to work out how much a short length of iron estate fencing would cost across our drive entrance. If I can't afford it it will be post rail and wire and a rampant rose.

You really need some good photos of them in detail, against a light back drop.

And maybe ask talk to the local bobby about the car you saw. S/he may not be able to tell you anything but might keep and eye open for them.
