rhiwfield plan B was to try and get money/mortgage to buy this place
http://www.johnfrancis.co.uk/auctionswansea.htm
its the one on gnoll road
but they decided to put it to auction...
But because they have stopped self cert mortgages and we allready have a mortgage in hubby's name we just could get a mortgage ( one bad thing about trying to keep business profits down)
In reality the place is not ideal, there are right of ways, and the land is more rough ground, trees, bogs and a bit of a wilderness. but it was the cheapest place around...
so now there is a plan C..... dont know if it will happen, but if it doesnt then i will have to think of a plan D:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
It looks like a good house and the land can always be worked on! It is such a good price too, I didn't think smallholdings that size could be so affordable.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

it started off at 249k, then went down to 219k, then down to 199k
then he would except 150k and this is when we tried to see what money we could raise, but they were desperate to sell so now its going to auction..
TBH the discription of what you can do with the land is extremely far fetched.. the so called barn has no planning permission, and the chicken shed:rotfl: are little sheds which have been placed in the bog area and are now over grown... you would have to get your chickens little wadders:rotfl:
people dont stay long in this house... as most of the ground is rock or gravel... plus the neighbours have gates at the bottom of their gardens which lead straight on to the land...
when we were looking round the house one of the neighbours was collecting wood from the land and carrying it back to his garden..
Most of the people that have bought this house have been from away, and think they could live the good life from it, but i would honestly say there is only about 1 acre of true workable land,,( to grow veg etc).
but as this house is only about 1 mile away... it would have been great for us, as we would still be in the same area, and our kids would still be able to hang around with their crowd....Work to live= not live to work0 -
CTC - The neighbours will be a problem - sounds like you know that.
Semi-detached is problematic.
Here you wouldn't be able sell without having full planning - would need to be retrospective in the case of the byre/barn.
It's not meant for you - something much better will come along soon.0 -
Lots of raised beds perhaps? I wish you all the best whatever decision you make regarding the house.
I have been working out my planting plans, finally sat down with all the seeds, the books, a calculator and paper. I am so undecided as to the best place to put everything, keep changing my mind all the time aaaarrrggggghhhhhh! Can you imagine how insufferable I would be if I had more land lol!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Bit of advice please, what height of canes should I get for growing runner beans? Last year we used an arch which is now in pieces and I was going to do one of those long pyramid type thingies.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Thank you for that rhiwfield! I have just written a list of all the seeds I have and I have 41 different veggie types :eek::eek:. That doesn't include the fruit bushes, onions, garlic and flower seeds. I guess I got a wee bit carried away
. In my defence a lot of the seeds were free from a variety of sources.
Now I am trying to figure out where to put them all when they all need to be sown (indoors and outdoors) and how often I need to plant them. I do feel as if I am slowly sinkingTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0
