Well, we still haven't finished our latest slash & burn project, but we're almost there. We had a visitor this morning, so there was a period of enforced idleness, which upset the plans a bit.:( It also upset our tummies, as we hadn't eaten and didn't like to say! :rotfl:

These calm, clear winter days are like gold dust; one gets so much more done. The garlic is all in now, so we shall have a fair trial to see whether our saved bulbs can match those we bought in the autumn.

I used the very last of our sweet peppers tonight in the curry. Unlike the chillies, there were never so many that we had to freeze them, but they kept ripening steadily until the hard weather struck. Out in the conservatory, with no heat except whatever escapes from our living room, the last of them soldiered on, producing a few thin walled fruit that made it to greenish orange, rather than red. We'll be getting the next ones in soon. :)

    Hey all.

I love these beautiful sunny winters days too. I think about all the electricity that would be produced if I had solar panels.

It was very cold here in the Midlands last night. Not sure what minus it went down to but my car was still frozen up at 10.00am this morning. But then, I guess that's par for the course seeing as my house has got to be the coldest in the world, why should my drive be any different?

My lounge is particularly cold tonight and every time I get up to make coffee or something, I notice the lounge door to the hall/stairs/landing (brrr) is open. I know it's not me keeps opening it and given that there is only me and my little black furry four legged friend here by the powers of deduction it must be Poo! I so wish I could teach her to close the door after her!

I notice too something dangerous is happening. I keep seeing an advert on the tv for 7 nights in Barbados for £489 and given that I am contemplating remortgaging atm to free up some cash for solar panels, I am afraid that the calling may be too great! Last time I kept seeing ads for Barbados I went (back in 2002)! And the only other ad that's called my name was Optimax when I was having problems with my contact lenses, so I went and got my eyes lasered! I think I need to stop watching tv!!!

Actually, I'm glad I shared that with you all because when I next see the Barbados ad I will think of the Daydream Challenge thread and feel all warm and fuzzy inside that I am heading in the right direction for the daydream!

Does anyone else have tv ads that call their names? If so, maybe by sharing, you can commit them to the Challenge thread and it will be your concience (sp) whenever it comes on again.

Enough from me, I do go on don't I? lol

Eh? What's a Scotch accent? Where gallons of whiskey has been drunk?

Had a great day. Got a pair of brand new hard wood double glazed windows that would of cost £400 for................the taking. I still can't believe it. Went through to Inverness to the glazing co to discuss our window order when spied the stuff they had out for the the rubbish - wrong sizes they said. Geeez. I also got a circular table top with ground edge - there were two but could only get the one to fit in the car on top of the pair of windows. Always fancied getting an ancient tree root & levelling it, sand blasting it & turning it into a coffee table - voila. Got the top, now just need the ancient root .... I know where there are tons of those.
All in all a very good day.
The triangular pair of windows won't be for the house but will do a shed/bothy gable apex beautifully. We just managed to get them in the back of the car with the back seats folded down & our seats pushed up to the windscreen.

I read all of yours with a Scots accent anyway! :)

I'm half Scottish; my Mum was from Perth. It was my Dad who was the mongrel. ;) That's why I like it when you use words I've not heard for years, like 'dreich.'

Not much to report here. We had to get supplies and attend to a few other things in town yesterday, so I was restricted to a few hours sawing-up the wood we've created and taking a few cuttings from plants I should have dealt with in November.

Then,at 9pm, just as I was about to sit down & watch our recording of Carol Klein's Cottage Garden Year, (her garden is a few miles north west of here) DD2 informs me she's going to be stranded in Exeter, because her train was delayed. Nice round trip of 64 miles to end the day! :(
  • Hi All,

I'm seriously getting the winter blues now...:rotfl: this cold snap is getting to me now, feels as though its been winter FOREVER!!!!!!

only a few more weeks now and hopefully the weather will break, and we will start getting some warmer sunnier days...

nothing much has been happening here ..... nothing to report on certain things..

Wish we could win the lottery:rotfl: but i should imagine that would be a different type of daydream thread....:rotfl:
