Thanks Alfie, I really concentrated on the weight loss this year. Would love to lose another 2 - 3 more stone next year but really want to start my new life of enjoying the simple things in life and stop spending as much as I can. Really looking forward to it now. Gave up uni a couple of weeks ago to concentrate on bringing up my children the way I want them brought up. I really want them to enjoy the very basic things in life and not feel as if they need lots of money to have the good things in life.
Chickens - I did manage to stop him taking one of the chickens but unfortunately he/she had killed her already. The two that are left have lot laid an egg since them, probably stress and lack of sunshine. Had to buy 6 eggs last week!Without overpayments: 15 years, 1 monthsBecause of overpayments: 10 years, 10 months left until paid off0 -
I picked 3 wheelbarrows full this afternoon.
i dont have much mud except for by the feed gate....
RUBY i swear is growing by the day. the seller actually asked me to give HIM 1st offer to buy her back [ i think his wife was miffed hed sold her:D] iv just wormed her and iv the blacksmith next week so am practising with her lifting her feet!! i hav to keep letting the poor man know that theres MORE hosses b4 he gets here:rotfl:its like musical chairs rounding them all up.... there is a riverside walk that passes the bottom field and they all are a great source of amusement to the passer byes. they start to show off and all start running around then racing to the fence for a fuss.

glad everyone's waterworks are getting back to normal, well for a little while anyway..
just realised christmas is 2 weeks today  it just doesnt seem, or feel like chirsmas this year, i would be quite happy not to put the tree up....and have beens on toast for dinner:rotfl:
but i have got to make the effort!!!!!
So better think about doing some crimbo shopping,,so dropping youngest into to town,as he has a little saturday job, so will venture nito a few out of town stores....lol..
and then try and start and finish a few handmade things to either sell or for pressies ( if they dont turn out that good..lol..)
wish me luck... :rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
I adore Christmas and I have all my things in and wrapped for weeks! My OH says I need to stop planning ahead because now I have all the christmas stuff done I have started planning the garden lol! We are not having turkey for dinner this year for a change but we have not decided what to have instead?
CTC if you are not in the mood then just do your shopping online, I do this every year now so that when I do go into town it is just to soak up the atmosphere (and mulled wine).Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Its meant that our feacal egg counts come back in the lowest section consistantlyand we save money on not needing wormers very often at all,we worm mainly on feacal count results. If you cross graze with your sheep you are minimising risk in another way...another reason to get sheep here . I'm a huge fan of cross grazing for lots of reasons, but parasite control is really underestimated in my opinion. While I'm sure you know this Alfie, for any readers...I think we have a few!... if you are seeing grains in poop then either your feeds are too big at each meal or your need to check teeth.:D
I have a degree in Parasitology and it so so refreshing to hear people taking parasite problems seriouslyTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
We have a massive fluke problem here.
We don't do the worm count but I do (worm the sheep) regularily - infact I should do them again. Funny when I got the orpan lambs they were riddled - they'd got them off their mothers & I did wonder if that had owt to do with the guy having big loses.
I once got cocidiousis [sp?] in chickens - horrid, horrid, horrid. I hadn't seen that before. It was during a very wet spell & I'd moved the runs down hill when I should of been moving them upwards - I think. I lost just over half the chicks.
Well the snow's away to day after such rain t'is a wonder the caravan isn't floating away - we should be building an ark, not a house.
I alternate wormer to avoid them getting immune to one - makes it effective.
Just looking at the monster hens at the caravan steps - they are bluggy lovely. My Scot's Greys appear to have shrunk. They seem to have lost weight - they have really lost mass.0 -

i buy wormer in a huge bottle! it costs a fortune but does sheep and horses.[regularly] yes you are right LIR, my olden BARNEY TB has fewer teeth at the front now, he was a dressage/show horse before, stabled, bored and cribbed....... when i got him the sight of a field was almost too much for the poor fella, couldnt understand he was FREE !! i have had a worm count done and it was fine,so will continue as is hopefully....
im just off to the garage to fetch MABELS electric fence battery, went flat very quickly, kept shaking the snow off it but has drained it. garage does it for me overnight on super charge, luckily she hasnt twigged its not on.... last time she went for an expedition off down the lanes and shes a big critter to bump into and we[she] got a mention in the local paper !!??:o ooops!
off to a gig tonight with a mate, will try and convince myself i can still hack the pace !!:rotfl:0
