Huge Wireless Internet Bill For Abroad Use. Help!
Comments

No one would fund a "governing body" to help people contest correct invoices!0

You seem to think that the charges would have been only 50 pounds for the week. Where did you get this figure from-did you actually check before you went what it would cost you?
The EU have already acted to reduce future mobile BB roaming charges in Europe, but this does not control what the local US networks agree with UK operators.
By all means start a pressure group to campaign against these charges (I'll be happy to support you), but it won't get you out of your existing contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
thank you all for your comments, some were very helpful some not so.
the charges were never made aware to me and i have been to australia and dubia and have not been charged this large fee.
I understand that there is not a governing body for high internet charges in particular but I am looking for a governing body that offers help to people who feel that a bill they have been sent is unfair and excessive for what it is for.
the idea that some people here think i should just pay up £1000 for what is little over an hour online is stupid and typical of some of the bigheads you find on these forums, this is not directed at 90% of your comments.
Basically this charge is extremely excessive and I am not willing to just roll over and pay it, any useful advice is welcomed and warmly received.

thank you quentin but your comments are pointlessly unhelpful.0

Who is stupid? Those advising you that you are wasting your time fighting charges you know are correct, or you for not checking the roaming charges before using it daily in USA?0 -
quentin you are advising me to do these things based on these charges being correct, does £1000 a week sound correct to you? i know the company isn't lying to me but the charge is still abnormally large. stop replying on this thread as your wasting my time.0

I agree with Quentin.
You should have checked the charges before travelling abroad. Unfortunately the fault is yours and you are liable for the bill.
You can campaign for charges to be reduced but at the time of your trip the rate is correct fair or not.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

It seems abnormally large - but usually 'roaming' on foreign networks for voice or data is VERY expensive and you should have checked the charges before you went there.
As for advice you could try the CAB - but they will probably advise some type of installment plan0 -
Unfortunatly mobile broadband is vey expesive and only recommened for a secondary use, There has been many cases where customer's are charged thousands for downloading a film or music the mobile companies ar making people pay at the moment even though they are excessive
Please let us know how you get on0 -
It's like ordering steak in a 5* restaurant every night and then complaining at the end of the week that it didn't cost the same as instant noodles.
You agreed these charges when you signed the contract!
There is LOADS of WIFI in the States. Why on earth would you use a mobile broadband dongle?!0
