Anyway, what I meant to say was that I'm so glad LIR & DH have made that decision. I have tinnitus, (see above!) but even with that I really appreciate a quiet environment. No idyll, rural or otherwise, would measure up if marred by noise.
DW and I have almost made a similar decision. We saw somewhere last week that was very close to 'the dream,' (the land certainly was) but other factors have ruled it out, I think. In our case the location was slightly remote and neighbours on both sides and in the nearby village don't use English as their language of choice....(We lurked outside the primary school at kick out time!)
Thank you Davesnave. Talking it over with you really helped. I've been trying to resolve myself to the noise, as so much else about it is good, and DH thought he was in love with it all, but he woke up this morning and said he almost agreed but needed to hear it again.
I would have gone with it if it were the place he wanted, but I'm both relieved and disappointed. I didn't want the noise but I really, really, want the home....NOW.:o0 -

Know exactly what you mean. Relieved and disappointed is a good way to put it. With this latest one I played devil's advocate, because I knew the land and the value for money were fine, but DW didn't argue, so I knew my alternative p.o.v had hit home!
It's hard, because you often have to wait many months between places like these, and it takes a while just to get over walking away. Of course there will be others, but we remember saying that before, many years ago, and then they literally accelerated away from us. It won't happen this time, I know, but this kind of 'temporary' life isn't a whole heap of fun, is it?0 -

Yep....the only other thing I've found openly advertised ATM hjas been under offer since January. Nothing else just right coming onto the market yet.
